Support the Heart Mini March 10!

“I didn’t think I’d be able to do that… but wow, I just did.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said that to myself in my 20+ years (how am I old enough for that?) of long-distance running. It’s honestly what keeps me coming back, and I reference it a lot in other parts of life. Between the weather, work, kids, knee/IT band issues (and, and, and) I’ve had every excuse to throw in the towel on my big goal of running three 1/2 marathons in the next three months. I’ve just been doing elliptical for the past couple weeks so I was nervous about whether or not I’d be able to do the 10 mile run I needed to do this week (let alone find the TWO hours, daylight and decent weather). Yesterday it happened. It started off great, but after having to take a few stretch breaks I was starting to feel disappointed in myself and my body. On that last stretch break though, I realized I was just about done with this big long run that felt impossible to plan, let alone physically do. I looked around at my favorite stretch of farmland on my route and I was absolutely overcome by gratitude. I was saying it again, “I didn’t think I’d be able to do that… but wow, I just did.” ❤️
