Parkers Blue Ash Tavern

At Parkers, they have all the satisfying stuff like finest prime rib, steaks, burgers and craft beers plus the light and healthy with amazing salads, spectacular seafood and even a wine list honored with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

But what I love about it here is that they offer as much variety of dishes as they do dining experiences. Stay cool in the summer dining on the newly remodeled Tap Room patio and warm in the winter as you cozy up to one of their wood burning fireplaces. It’s the best place to meet friends for a drink, conduct business, grab a meal to go, kindle romance or celebrate special moments.

They have a newly remodeled main dining room and also private dining rooms – seating 12 to 60 or cocktail up to 100 – so your event can have the perfect setting for things like rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties and business functions.

They host live music regularly, have a Crab Leg night every Friday and then on Sunday they have their famous brunch that people drive from all over to enjoy!

If you haven’t been, or haven’t been lately, come check it out for yourself! Like them on Facebook to stay updated and learn more about them at http://parkersblueash.com/.

Frugalista Friday: Get Cash on the Spot at Clothes Mentor

It’s time for you to make room in your closets for all those fab fall items you’ll get at the Fall Reveal Sept 16! Some of their “most wanted” items include: designer handbags, duster vests, all kinds of denim — skinny, distressed, various colors of denim — fall and winter dresses, and plus sizes — tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, coats any and all plus size items are among the most wanted — there’s also a big demand for tops with those cute bell sleeves, graphic tees, chic flannels, light jackets, vests and athletic wear. In terms of shoes, they’re looking for booties and athletic shoes.

With the change of seasons, it’s a great time to clean out those closets and make room for new items. If you haven’t worn it in 6-12 months, you probably aren’t going to wear it again, so make it time to sell!

Clothes Mentor makes it easy too – no appointment needed, just walk in and you get cash on the spot! Learn more at www.clothesmentor.com.

Broadway in Cincinnati’s Wicked is Here!

Wicked is here!!! I went to the Aronoff Center last night to check out the debut show!

So much happened before Dorothy dropped in.  WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

The show will run for five weeks, and there are still plenty of great seats available! Wondering which night may be the best to go? You’ll find the best prices on weeknights! You can even buy tickets in person at the Aronoff Center Ticket Office to avoid most fees.

Keep in mind: Shows like this often bring out the worst tickets scams.  Don’t get scammed – be sure you are buying at CincinnatiArts.org, the official Aronoff Center Ticketing Site, not a 3rd party ticket seller that may come up in a Google search.

Ten Thousand Villages Rug Event

This huge rug event is happening this week and next at the two different local Ten Thousand Villages locations — Harper’s Point and O’Bryonville — where they bring in close to 400 rugs. And these aren’t just any rugs. They are high-quality, fair trade, artisan made, hand-knotted rugs. These rugs truly make a difference for the artisans who make them so you can feel good knowing your purchase is empowering women, building schools and supporting village development.

These rugs are made from Dumba sheep – their wool is high in lanolin content, natural scotchguard

And the designs come in several different categories – Contemporary, traditional, tribal. You’ll find natural dyes, synthetic dyes, hand spun wool, and some machine spun. Whatever your style, you’ll find something you love here at this amazing rug event. But these special pieces are only here for a short time, so make sure you stop by soon!

Harper’s Point: Sept. 14-17

O’Bryonville: Sept. 20-24

Clermont Chamber of Commerce “Women’s Day” Oct. 4

Want to make some new connections with other local business women? There’s an event coming up Oct. 4 at the Holiday Inn & Suites with the Clermont Chamber of Commerce called “Women’s Day.” There will be breakfast, exhibitors, networking, “Speed Mentoring”, and a dynamic panel discussion with several local who’s who on Cincinnati’s business women scene, such as:
  • Kim Patton, CEO, HealthSource Ohio
  • Letitia Fulkerson, Owner, State Farm Agency
  • Jackie McNary, Senior Program Director, YMCA
  • Panel Moderator, Jane Sojka, Professor, University of Cincinnati
It’s also for a great cause, as they’ll be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for Inter Parish Ministry. Love that.
Tickets can be purchased here for $50, but you have to get your ticket by Sept. 25! There are also vendor booth opportunities. If you’d like to learn more, or if you have any questions, contact Sherri Bowling at Sherri.Bowling@jfs.ohio.gov.

Big Daddy Walker Productions – New, More Affordable, Packages for Small Weddings

We’ve been using Big Daddy Walker Productions for our DJ services for all our events this year and I’ve been LOVING them! They’re always on-time, always prepared, and always keep the energy up with our crowds!

We’ve had nightmares before with other DJ services… mic feedback so bad people left, batteries dying mid-presentation with NO backup batteries, speakers dying with no back-up, you name it! So, I of course was nervous about going with someone new this year, but they’ve honestly been AMAZING! Haven’t had one issue all year, and that’s saying a LOT with how complicated our events can be! For example, our most recent event, at the Cincinnati Art Museum, last year attendees said they couldn’t hear me emceeing because of all the echoes in the big marble room we were in. The DJ with BDWP came in this year and tweaked for hours prior to the event to make sure the levels were just right to avoid echos. We didn’t have ANY complaints this year about not being able to hear — I’m SO thankful!

At the event on Friday, I got to talking with the DJ about what’s new with biz and he said that they’re now offering a new, more affordable, package for smaller weddings who just need the basics. I know a lot of my millennial friends (geesh that makes me sound old) are having very intimate weddings now, and are more budget conscious than ever, so I know this is right up their alley! I figured I’d do a blog about it in case any one else out there is planning a small event or wedding where this would be a good fit for them! Here are more details about the package:

For smaller weddings/events of 100 guests or less. $695 BASIC MUSIC SERVICE:

  • DJ only
  • Pre-event telephone communication
  • 4 Hours of Music
  • Top Quality DJ equipment
  • 5 Special Dances
  • Online forms filled out by client
  • Phone consultation
  • Online planning tools for clients use

Chic Review: Microdermabrasion at Alba Beauty Studio

I booked a little mini spa day at Alba Organic Beauty Studio because I heard that they have a bunch of new services and products that I wanted to try out. They now have microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and a whole new line of organic peels for facials — like a Fruit Peel, Botanical peel, and a Yogurt Power Peel.

I opted for the Microdermabrasion because I felt like my skin was looking dull after summer – I wanted to slough it all off and feel fresh faces for fall. A Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works in a series to achieve the best results — so, Benny my esthetician, cleaned, used the microdermabrasion machine, then extracted, then cleaned some more, then moisturized and gave me the most relaxing head, hand and neck massage ever.

Overall, Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of wrinkles, removes acne scars, clears up blackheads, minimizes the size of the pores, reduces sun damage, and evens out your skin tone. It also helps to boost collagen production to provide firming and toning to your complexion!

It’s not painful at all, very relaxing. And you know when you get it at Alba, that it’s going to be all organic and good for you! Highly recommended!
