Sneak Peek: Red River Rust

This past week we featured Vintage Market Days of Metro Dayton’s upcoming “Life’s a Garden” event on Cincy Chic. With so many great vendors attending the event, I wanted to chat with a few of them to learn more about what they’re bringing to the show!

Red River Rust has been around for a little more than 20 years, getting their start in early 1998. According to Owner Gina, Red River Rust participates in Vintage Market Days event exclusively.

“We love the crowds,” she says. “The events are ran with something for everyone. We like them so much that we bought one 2.5 years ago, and our 5th event is June 22 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.”

When you shop Red River Rust at Vintage Market Days, you’ll find custom crafted tables, a large collection of vintage and antique cameras, and lots of vintage and home decor in addition to large initials.

Gina says the best seller for Red River Rust is the upcycled sugar molds and accessories, which you’ll be able to check out at Vintage Market Days!

Sneak Peek: Lolly’s Chalk

This past week we featured Vintage Market Days of Metro Dayton’s upcoming “Life’s a Garden” event on Cincy Chic. With so many great vendors attending the event, I wanted to chat with a few of them to learn more about what they’re bringing to the show!

At Sheri Hamilton’s Lolly’s Chalk, you’ll learn how to make professional “smudge-proof” chalked decor in just minutes! And, if your artistic skills aren’t quite at the “professional” level, no worried, because there is no skill required to learn!

Lolly’s Chalk is an independent designer for Chalk Couture products, and they’ll show you how easy it is to create high-quality chalked decor using reusable silk screen transfers, removable chalk paste, and permanent inks to reveal your inner artist.

“The silk screens allow for a level of detail that you cannot get with traditional one-use stencils,” says Hamilton. “The chalk paste does not smudge, but washes off of chalkboard surfaces with water. You can use our products on other surfaces like wood, metal, glass, plastic, porcelain, etc.”

Hamilton says it’s easy to take pieces from drab to fab in a flash when you use Lolly’s Chalk.

Hamilton is eager to attend this year’s Vintage Market Days event and says she’ll be bringing along best sellers for customers to purchase.

Best sellers for Lolly’s Chalk are white paste for chalkboards as well as a variety of paste colors for other surfaces. With nearly 100 designers to choose from, customers can mix-and-match and customize their own look with font sets.

“At Vintage Market Days, I’ve found our most popular transfers are Vintage Truck, Enjoy the Journey, Happy Camper, Farmhouse, and fonts,” she says. “We’re so excited to bring Chalk Couture products to the Dayton/Cincinnati area to share the chalky fun.”

Sneak Peek: The Farm Table on 62!

This past week we featured Vintage Market Days of Metro Dayton’s upcoming “Life’s a Garden” event on Cincy Chic. With so many great vendors attending, I wanted to chat with a few of them to learn more about what they’re bringing to the show, and give you a look at some of these super special businesses that will be set up at the event!

Christie Laffin is the owner of The Farm Table on 62 in Grove City, Ohio.

“We are a family-owned business with a rustic chic flare,” she says. “Our focus is on gift giving and home decor.”

The Farm Table on 62 also has a full paint studio with Dixie Belle Paints and solutions to any paint need you may have.

“We work one-on-one with clients and we do paint classes,” adds Laffin. However, what The Farm Table on 62 really specializes in is painting furniture that you already own to make it “new to you” or appropriate for a new home or a change in style.

The team at The Farm Table on 62 really enjoys teaching clients how to paint, and can even help you with painting solutions for your kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and home decor.

The store also sells candles, pillows, linens, and even natural skin care.

“We work really hard to provide great customer service and make our customers feel right at home, and they quickly become friends,” says Laffin.

This faith-based company also sells inspirational signs, pillows and artwork.

At Vintage Market Days, you can check out painting techniques and products they have painted to sell. To add to their offerings, the business has teamed up with The Village Homestead, a retailer for Dixie Belle Paints, and will be hosting painting classes for event attendees.

JDRF Southwest Ohio Raises $3.7M for Diabetes Research

JDRF Southwest Ohio recently held its annual JDRF Cincinnatian of the Year Gala, where they honored Rich Boehne, Chairman of E.W. Scripps, and acknowledged volunteer Mark Kacher as the Cynthia Marver Marmer Volunteer of the Year.

The event raised a record $3.7 million toward research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

Petra Vester chaired the event, which saw more than 800 guests, all of whom enjoyed this year’s “Carnivale for the Cure” Brazilian theme!

A big part of fundraising came from a $2.4 million planned gift left by the estate of the late Wayne and Marty McDaniel, making it the largest gift in the chapter’s history.

“JDRF has made tremendous progress in the past 18 months, namely with developing the new artificial pancreas technology,” says JDRF Southwest Ohio Executive Director Melissa Newman. This transformative gift will help us continue that momentum, and will positively impact the lives of every person living with type 1 diabetes.”

The team at Cincy Chic hopes to keep this fundraising momentum going for JDRF – honoring the organization as the “blue” at our annual Red, Pink & Blue event on the Purple People Bridge on June 29.

We’ll also be raising funds for two other organizations as well, so head on over and get your tickets, and choose the charity of your choice, red for the American Heart Association, pink for the Pink Ribbon Girls, and blue for JDRF!

Rappel for a Reason: Nick’s Story

Happy #MotivationMonday, Chic’ers! Today, we’re inspired by Nick Izzi, who signed up to do Rappel for a Reason in honor of Gracie! Gracie has a brain tumor(s) but was able to keep it at bay until she was two years old when it grew aggressively. After a year of chemo, she had multiple side effects so her doctors switched her to a clinical trial for two years with minimal side effects, leaving her family with hefty medical bills. DONATE NOW to help Nick reach his $1,000 goal for Gracie! http://ow.ly/3EMU30j3U8l To learn more about Rappel for a Reason on July 14, visit http://www.rappelforareason.com.
