Chic Review: Power Blendz Pure 21

I’ve done 21-day cleanses before but I wanted to try this one because it don’t use artificial sweeteners, it’s non-GMO and all natural.
Basically, it’s a three-week program that cleans and detoxifies, then resets your body to better absorb nutrients while also helping you create new habits that will make for long-term success.
They make it pretty foolproof to follow. When you sign up to do the system, the package comes with a PURE 21 Guide which has detailed meal planning, recipes, nutrition tips and a goal based exercise strategy. Everything from a list of what to get at the grocery, what to eat and how to make it. Really made it super easy for me.
My favorite part of the system was the PRO-WHEY 100% whey protein isolate that’s all natural, non GMO and gluten free with no artificial sweeteners — I got the chocolate flavor and it’s sooo yummy! The system also comes with a blender bottle; the PURE START natural cleanser and detoxifier packets; ADVANCED PROBIOTIC digestive and immune system health and balance; DIGESTIVE NZYMES restore the normal digestive function; and VITA PLEX which has over 30 high quality vitamins and minerals.
You just follow what the guide says to do and take each day, and you all the sudden start to feel better. Trimmer, more energy, better mood. I definitely noticed a difference about a week in, and by the end of the three weeks, it was dramatic.
I lost a little over six pounds and I’m back into my pre-pregnancy clothes again. But more importantly, I FEEL better. I sleep better, no more sweets cravings and energy crashes, my mind feels less foggy, and did I mention that I’m back into my pre-pregnancy clothes again three months after the third baby? Talk about a mood booster!

New Fall Flavors at Gigi’s Cupcakes!

New fall flavors just arrived at Gigi’s and are being made daily now! They include S’more, Pumpkin Spiced Latte — you can get that in both regular and Gluten Friendly — and Haystack which is like a coconut and buttercream drizzled with carmel… sooo good!

If you’re looking for some fun Halloween treats, they have Boo Boxes in both mini and regular sizes. Lots of spooky but super cute designs on those.

While I was there picking up a Boo Box for my kiddos, I got to talking with the folks at Gigi’s and they said that catering, weddings, birthday celebrations and showers are their specialty. They can do cupcakes from their menu OR they can customize to fit any theme. They also make cheesecakes, cookies, and custom cakes too.

They said dessert buffets are a huge trend right now, especially for weddings and anniversary parties, and they love doing those with a variety of sweets and treats for your guests to choose from.

Sneak Peek: RetroFittings 2018

RetroFittings, a one-of-a-kind fashion show and fundraising event that benefits St. Vincent de Paul, is back for another year on Oct. 18. And organizers say this one will be their best one yet.

If you haven’t heard of RetroFittings before, it’s where St. Vincent de Paul teams up with UC’s DAAP program to showcase original fashions of students from UC’s top-ranked fashion program. Students shop in any of the seven local St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores with a budget of only $15 each, turning items they find in the stores into runway fashion.

In addition to the fashion show, the event also features an on-site boutique with hand selected, curated and designer items from St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores. Just to give you an idea of the deals you’ll find, I got a sneak peek of this year’s boutique and I found this perfect-for-fall Rag & Bone sweater top for only $14, this fun cocktail dress for only $10, this classic-with-a-twist little black dress long sleeves with a beautiful faux ostrich feather trim for only $12, and a cozy faux cheetah fur coat for only $35.

They will also have a silent auction and a live auction with all proceeds from the event benefiting many of the programs of St. Vincent de Paul. Just to give you the idea of the impact — just last year, St. Vincent de Paul fed more than 100,000 people through food pantries and kept 5,300 families in their homes through the homelessness prevention program.

Some of the live auction items at RetroFittings 2018 include a week’s stay in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and tickets to see Elton John at U.S. Bank Arena in February.

New to this year’s event is the location as it heads back to the recently-renovated Music Hall.

This year’s event will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6pm. General admission tickets for the event are $60 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and two drink tickets. VIP admission tickets are $100 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, three drink tickets, and priority seating.
