Metals: A New Fashion Trend!

Harpers Bazaar named mixed metals as one of the biggest trends to emerge from 2015, and boy were they right! My friend Emily who owns Miss Em’s (an awesome Ohio-based accessories business) says she’s been seeing a big trend in different types of metal necklaces. In fact, she says lot of the pieces they’ve been seeing are the Patina necklaces, as well as the mixed metals. Below are some pieces she now carries that are trending with the metal looks for fall/winter! (and see below those for Cincy Chic’s event this Saturday where you can shop all these looks and more!)457939466811477451497232514862514889514924CFB06636-3T-TQS-2X112-212D-CUFF-281073-300-01DN7001-MT-16_3L-134X212-112L-238063-425-02ME7276-PAT-114W-112L-284257-150-01PDN5065-SV-AT-16_3L-1X1-242786-375-0.15SB05904-TT-14H-Str-248483-225-0.15SB05906-AS-14H-Str-248486-225-0.15SB05906-PT-14H-Str-282940-225-01

Miss Em’s: Look for Less

As I mentioned last week, my friend Emily owns Miss Em’s, an awesome accessories shop that specializes in trendy yet affordable pieces. She does home parties, craft shows, etc. (like Stella and Dot, but at a fraction of the price) and you can also go online to buy her items. But once a year she hosts an annual Holiday Shopping-themed Open House every year where you can shop in person! This year’s event is on Nov. 1 at the Anderson Senior Center (7970 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255). Click here to get all the event details!

Whenever I wear any of my Miss Em’s pieces, people are always asking me where I got it, or if it’s such-and-such designer… and they’re always surprised when I tell them where I actually got it and for how much. So, just to give you an example of what I’m talking about, I pulled a few things I liked from Miss Em’s site, and then found identical designer look-alikes for hundreds more. Check them out! Then, after you do and you get hooked on Miss Em’s too, I’ll see you on Nov. 1! 🙂

Miss Em’s Holiday Open House Event Nov. 1!

My friend Emily Smith (previously Emily Madden – she just got hitched!) started a company in 2008 that’s all about affordable fashion. Her business is called “Miss Em’s” — click here to read the story we did on her in Cincy Chic a couple years ago — and it should definitely be on your radar if you love trendy accessories but don’t want to spend a fortune on them.

Don't miss the Miss Em's Holiday Open House on Nov. 1 at the Anderson Senior Center!

From understated bracelets to statement necklaces, cute clutches to boho bags, stud earrings to dangling chandeliers, and posh pashminas to cozy scarves, Miss Em’s has it.  It’s an online boutique and Emily hand-selects everything herself, so that’s how she keeps the costs as low as possible.

And while most of the time, you have to go online to see and buy her items (she also does home parties, craft shows, etc. — like Stella and Dot, but at a fraction of the price) she also hosts an annual Holiday Shopping-themed Open House every year where you can shop in person! This year’s event is on Nov. 1 at the Anderson Senior Center (7970 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255). Click here to get all the event details!

The first 150 people in attendance receive a swag bag filled with coupons from other vendors and local businesses, such as Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Thirty One, Jamberry Nails, Décor by Laurie.

All of the jewelry will be $20 or lower. Purses will range from $20 – $50, Scarves will range from $12 – $15, Headbands will range from $12 – $15. Follow Miss Em’s on Facebook to see more pictures of items that will be at the event, and get updates on other events, etc.

The event is open to the public. If you read this and attend the event and mention Cincy Chic, you will get a free gift! Also, if you would like to receive a postcard or emails about this event, please contact Emily@MissEms.com

I’ll be there snagging some great gifts for all the fashionistas on my list (and of course a ton of stuff for myself, I’m sure! haha!) Hope to see you there!

Clothes Mentor – the Secret to Designer Style for WAY Less!

I did a Star64 shoot at Clothes Mentor a couple weeks ago and fell in LOVE. It’s like the Plato’s Closet for professional women – lots of designer stuff! I brought in a basket of things I wasn’t wearing (got $50 cash!) and while I was waiting, I found the below outfit (dress and jewelry) for only $12!

Seriously ladies, this place is AMAZING! Clean out your closet and find one of these places near you! There are three locations in Cincy (I went to their new one in Hyde Park Plaza!) Also, they’re going to be the fashion show sponsor of our Sept 11 “Start-ups and Stilettos” event — giving 10% of all sales at the event to our charity! Hope to see you there!

Wild Hare Salon, Cincy Chic Discount! Woohoo!

1382534488

I always love telling the stories behind why an entrepreneur started their business  — that’s one of the reasons why I started MY business, Cincy Chic! haha! 🙂 I recently had a chance to chat with Holly Grove, owner of Wild Hare Salon, about her story!

She opened the doors of her salon in Montgomery six years ago, and she and her staff have been a staple for hundreds of Cincinnati gals (including several of my friends!) ever since. Today they offer a laundry list of salon/spa services, like full cut and color, a manicure-pedicure, facial, spray tan, or even up-dos for an entire wedding party!

With decades of industry experience (without giving away their ages, of course! haha!), Holly and her staff have experience working at several large salons, but they like the win-win of being in an intimate environment of a smaller salon, but still staying on the cutting edge (literally!) with continuous education to continue to refine their craft.

Another thing I love is that all of the salon’s hair stylists are Aveda-certified (have you SMELLED Aveda products… so yum!). And, as you probably know Aveda products are all good for you and the environment, and that’s important because The Wild Hare Salon has a passion for healthy, natural options. In fact, this is the only salon in the area that offers Intelligent Nutrients certified organic products.

They’re located at 9465 Loveland Madeira Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242. Give them a call at (513) 791-2133. Mention Cincy Chic and receive $10 off a manicure or pedicure, or $15 off a cut and color. WOOT!

Sloane Boutique DEEP Sale This Week, 30-80% Off!

It’s easy to spend a pretty penny at Sloane Boutique in OTR. They carry some of the best women’s clothing brands with chic and trendy yet classic and well-made pieces — but you get what you pay for, so this isn’t the place to go if you want a bargain. That is, until Sloane has its annual DEEP Sale. Then you can can your cake (designer brands) and eat it too (at deep discounts). And when they say deep, they aren’t kidding! Promos say that the discounts are 30-80% and when the owner Duru emailed me about the sale, she said some items are even 90% off! The sale starts tomorrow at noon and goes throughout the week. Check it out! 1216 Vine Street Cincinnati OH 45202

As I mentioned last week, Curate Boutique announced that it’s closing its brick and mortar store (going to operate online only from here on out). They posted that their last day is June 30, so these are your last days to grab your goods at SUPER discounted prices (not only are they very discounted but she’s also doing a buy two get one free sale). Click here to like Curate on FB to get all her updates and info on what her next steps are in the online world!
