Today I was on Fox19 (click here to watch the video segment) talking about looks for New Year’s Eve. I picked four outfits from Paris J Boutique for the segment. In the green room as we were getting ready, Teresa the owner of Paris J, mentioned that the date for the Cincinnati Boutique Sale had just been selected and announced. I tried to contain my excitement, but I think I let out a little squeal. : )
They usually keep this date a secret until the very last minute because they don’t want their clients to hold off on buying things to get them at a discount at the sale. But, the cat’s officially out of the bag, so mark your calendars…
What do Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have in common… other than Brad Pitt? Tom Ford Sunglasses of course!
They’ve both been spotted trotting around Tinseltown in these spectacular specs. Lots of other stars love this brand, too… Gwenyth. Rihanna, Demi, and Kim Kardashian just to name a few.
Well, here’s your chance to share shades with the stars. I just found out about a Tom Ford sunglass trunk show going on tomorrow at Gamine, an adorable store in Dayton (promise it’s worth the drive). On Dec. 16 from 1-5pm, their Tom Ford rep will be at the store that day with all the latest styles for women and men.
They’re giving 15% off all Tom Ford Sunglasses purchases that day. Plus, if you bring in an unwrapped toy for them to donate, they’ll give you an additional 5% off your Tom Ford purchase! The price tag for this brand averages around $300-$400, so a 20% discount can save you a big chunk of change.
Here’s where you can find Gamine (formerly The Pink Daisy):
2504 Far Hills Ave.
Dayton, OH 45419
Like I said, it’s a drive, but I promise it’s worth it! They carry lines by Velvet, Milly, Nanette Lepore, Michael Stars, Tory Burch, J Brand, Susanna Monaco, Chan Luu, Kendra Scott, Big Buddha, Joie, Paige Denim, Diane von Furstenburg and Theory. Gamine is like Cincy’s north star of fashion!
I just got an email from a friend and I thought I’d share … it’s a good cause! And there’s a “fashionable tie” to the cause… literally! : )
Here’s the gist: Make a $57 dollar pledge on December 17 to WVXU and get a Dhani Jones bow tie and that tax deductible donation will help support WVXU. Also, all who pledge/call in to the station on December 17 will be entered to win an iPad.
Here’s the email I got so you can get all the details and share it with your friends!
On December 17, WVXU will be having a one-day fund drive in order to prevent any funding shortfall for 2010. And as with any fund drive, there are incredibly cool, community-rooted, just in time for the holidays, incentives.
The one incentive we think will be a social *spark* is the custom-designed Dhani Jones bow tie. There will only be 200 of these available for the one day drive and they are a true exclusive. A $57 dollar pledge gets you the tie … and will help a great radio station continue to keep Cincinnati connected to a world of ideas. And yes, it is tax deductible and will be sent out on December 18.
And here’s how you can help (again, only if you want to) … simply ‘like’ 917 WVXU on Facebook and/or follow @917WVXU on Twitter. As we post information re: this incentive prior to December 17, we’d love it if you could help get the buzz rolling with a few shares, re-posts, RTs, etc. Again, it is a Cincinnati exclusive and it will help to bring awareness not only to the station but also to Dhani’s Bow Tie Cafe in Mt. Adams … an effort developed to give people a place to gather and converse/collaborate about issues that matter and develop working solutions that benefit the community.
In addition to the tie, there are other thank you gifts that give back to the community (feeding hungry children) and tickle the ear drums (a fantastic Cincinnati-only Christmas guitar CD called “Ring.”) Also, all who pledge/call in to the station on December 17 will be entered to win an iPad.
And in case you were curious, here’s a great video about how to tie a bowtie… with instruction given by Mr. Dhani Jones himself.
It’ll be at Mainstay bar downtown. The clothing and accessories will be by the designers at the Brush Factory.
If you haven’t been to the Brush Factory, I encourage you to do so. You won’t find anything else like it in Cincinnati.
We’ve written about them several times in Cincy Chic. The best write ups can be found here and here.
They are not about glitz and glam at the Brush Factory. It has a very organic, urban feel. It’s almost like Amish meets hipster meets urbanite.
The hair and makeup will be done by Mitchell’s Salon and Day Spa… which is where I just booked our staff spa party for the holidays! I’m soooo excited! Everyone on my staff will get $150 to spend and they’re all trying different things, so I’ll report back on what everything was like! EEE Can’t wait!
Oh, sorry, sidetracked by a spa day : ) … Ah, yes, Fashion Show, Dec. 9 and it benefits the Over the Rhine Kitchen. I’m looking forward to coming out and enjoying this fab event, and supporting the worthwhile cause!
When I can do both things I love the most – shopping and eating – and all for a great cause, I get really excited! So, suffice it to say I’m ridiculously excited to check out this event! On Thursday, December 9th, Downtown Cincinnati Inc. is partnering with Kindervelt / Children’s Hospital to raise money for the hospital. All you have to do is mention ‘Kindervelt’ at the restaurant or retail store! So, make sure you mark your calendars for Dec. 9th and bring your girlfriends for a day of shopping and dining! I’ll see you there!

Just found out about this event and thought I’d share… you know, since I just predicted this boutique and designer are going to be household names for all local fashionistas in the near future! : ) I think I might stop by! I haven’t been in yet!

Now, I’ve told you all about the mens, womens and kids fashions and gifts that’ll be there at the showcase. But I haven’t really talked about the food. The yummy, delicious, mouth-watering, drooling-a-little-thinking-about-it food that will be there.
Frisch’s is our title sponsor of the event so they’re providing all the tasty treats. When I first met with the marketing manager there, Karen, we discussed having pie tastings. I thought… mmmmm… cold day… burning lots of calories holding shopping bags… perfect time for a piece of pumpkin pie, right?
She loved the idea… so much so that not only did Karen decide to donate 100 pieces of Frisch’s famous pumpkin pie to be handed out at the event, but she also donated 100 breakfast sandwiches, 75 spicy spuds, and 100 salads.
Some of the food will be catering the “Botox & Brunch” that Kurtzman Plastic Surgery is putting on (sorry, it’s sold out!), but the rest will be given out at the Frisch’s booth at the event for you to taste test!
The Cincy Chic staff and I actually just held one of our weekly meetings we usually have at the office, at a Frisch’s instead. Karen even came to meet my staff! It was so fun! She’s been there for more than 30 years, so she had some great history to share with us.
She told us how the drive-thru window is actually an evolution from the drive-in restaurant days. Karen said that the pumpkin pie is made at the local Frisch’s commissary. Oh, and she also said the pie recipe was created more than 40 years ago and remains a super guarded secret!
All this talk about this pie, now I really can’t wait to eat some tomorrow! They will be doing the tastings and then also taking pie reservation orders ($8.45 for a pie) if you want to get one before Thanksgiving! I love doing that and then trying to play it off at Thanksgiving like I made it. My mom is pretty gullible so she usually falls for it at first. Then everyone reminds her that mine would be a lot less tasty and probably a little deformed. haha!
See you tomorrow! I’ll be the one with all the shopping bags scarfing down a big piece of pie! : )
The Seasonably Chic Showcase will be on November 6th at The Pheonix downtown from 10 am to 3 pm. This event brings 40 of the Tri-State’s best boutiques and vendors–for women, men, children, and pets–all under one roof for one day of spectacular shopping! The best thing about it? It’s free to get in! Just bring a canned good for the Freestore food bank! Click Here to RSVP!
