Live Kissing Experiment Tomorrow on Fountain Square

This Tuesday, January 22, Gillette is inviting couples to stop by for a live kissing experiment! The event is being held at Fountain Square from 8:30am-2pm.

At the event, women will determine whether they prefer their men to have some facial stubble or a clean shaven face. Since research shows that people are kissing less than ever and with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Gillette wants to ask couples if the problem is all that stubble!

Couples participating in the event will kiss in person- with and without stubble- to uncover which kiss is the best kiss. So make sure you man shows up with some stubble!

There will be free Gillette prizes for the guys and Cover Girl lip gloss for the girls will be going to all couples that participate!

If you can’t attend the event but would still like to conduct the experiment, participate online at The results from the experiment will be announced on Valentine’s Day!

Perfectly Pink Tubing Days Feb. 19-21

A little over a year ago, we at Cincy Chic wrote this story about the “Tour for the Cure” girlfriend getaway program in Southeast Indiana that’s raised more than $20,000 for breast cancer research. It stuck in my mind as such a fun idea – plus, it supports an awesome cause! So, a couple months ago, I went to the Dearborn County Convention, Visitor & Tourism Bureau to learn more about it and see if it might be something I can get me and my gal pals involved with.

First of all, if you haven’t been to Lawrenceburg in a while, you should definitely check it out. That’s where this Toursim Bureau is located, and when I drove to it, I felt like I was driving through a cute little mountain town – complete with boutiques, cafes and great gift shops!

So, after I shopped at the cute boutiques, I went in to chat with the tourism reps initially to learn about the Tour for the Cure, but I also learned about their other “pink programs.” One of which is coming up soon. It’s their Perfectly Pink: Tubing for Tour for the Cure. It’ll be Feb. 19, 20 & 21, 1:00-9:30pm each day, at Perfect North Slopes, 19074 Perfect Lane in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. It’s $25 per person for a one-day tubing pass, with $5 coupon available on Plus, it benefits breast cancer research by donating a portion of proceeds to the Vera Bradley Foundation.

Below is some background info they gave me on the program, events, and how you can learn more!

  • Perfectly Pink is sponsored by the Dearborn County Convention, Visitor & Tourism Bureau’s Tour for the Cure® initiative.  Tour for the Cure® raises funds for breast cancer research through a partnership with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast CancerSM, a nonprofit foundation affiliated with Vera Bradley Designs, Inc. that supports various research-based initiatives in the fight for a breast cancer cure.
  • Through a variety of overnight travel packages, day trips, luncheons, group excursions and events, Tour for the Cure® has raised more than $27,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation since 2008.
  • This is the fifth year in a row for the Perfectly Pink Tubing event, and is a great way    for visitors to “have fun and give hope” (the Tour for the Cure® motto) while raising    funds for a worthy cause.

  • Perfectly Pink participants are invited to wear pink to show their support throughout    the three-day event.
  •  Perfect North Slopes – a valued Tour for the Cure® partner – is home to a large    snow tubing park at their ski area where Perfectly Pink is held.  At the end of    Perfectly Pink Tubing Days, Perfect North will make a special donation to help    benefit Tour for the Cure®.
  • New this year:  Perfect North Slopes is offering a special $5 off Perfectly Pink    Tubing coupon available on  Participants must print and    present the coupon at time of purchase in order to be eligible for the discount.

21c Museum Hotel – New Spa, Rooftop Lounge

A few weeks ago, we wrote about the 21C Museum Hotel here in Cincy Chic. It sounded like such a special addition to downtown that I had to go check it out myself. I contacted the PR gal there to let her know when I would be there, so she gave me a great tour of the space. She took me through the restaurant Mertropole which pays homage to its roots. Afterall, the 21c Museum Hotel transformed the 100-year-old former Metropole Hotel into a contemporary art museum, boutique hotel, spa and restaurant.

I got to check out the art exhibit (some of the art is permanent – most of which is from the owner’s personal art collection – and then other pieces are part of a rotating exhibit). Fun fact, it’s open 24 hours a day, so if you’re ever downtown looking for something to do (that’s free!), go in and check it out!

Then, I got to go upstairs to the spa, which I have to say was the most unique spa I’ve ever been to. What I loved most is that there are steam showers – and even a hot tub in the couples treatment room – so you can shower, refresh and relax after your treatment. That’s nice because at some spas, you have to shower in a gym-like locker room afterwards, which kind of negates the luxurious spa experience of your treatment. So, I thought that was a really nice touch that would make the experience there so much more special.

After that, she took me through a tour of what will be the new rooftop lounge. It’s set to open in Spring, and I’m so excited about it! There really aren’t too many rooftop hotspots in Cincinnati, and this one takes the cake. It’s a wrap-around rooftop, which overlooks Walnut, the Aronoff and the alley above Nicholsons. And – get this – there’s even a hot tub on top. Pretty amazing.

I highly recommend checking it out for yourself – it’s certainly an incredible experience and we’re lucky to have this new treasure in the heart of our downtown.

Steam shower and hot tub in the couples treatment room… can you say great “Valentine’s Day gift”??

Guests to the spa are greeted by a site-specific installation by artist Ryan Wolfe called Field of Grass, which spreads across the stairway wall leading up to the spa,” Stephanie Greene, Public Relations Manager for the 21c Museum Hotel explains. “The work recreates the feel of a windswept, grassy expanse. Blades of grass are activated by wind data, and viewers can watch as a gust of air moves across the entire installation.”
