Review: Baby Zala

Pre-kids, I always considered myself stylish. But then maternity clothes and nursing tops entered my wardrobe, and baby stuff galore entered my home… slowly but surely, I didn’t feel so stylish any more. 🙁

Then I found out about Baby Zala and I feel like I’m a card carrying Fashionista again! These days, I’m wearing lots of cute shawls and leggings (comfortable, and easily able to nurse) and little Sofia loves lounging on her stylish “Baby Cloud” pillow (not the same cookie-cutter Boppie every.single.other baby has!)

I love the fleur-de-lis print on her pillow, and all the colors that my shawl comes in! Plus, the fabrics are REALLY nice and everything is put together really well. Definitely worth the extra $$ and it’s actually easier to go to their site to buy instead of going to a big box baby store and sorting through all the picked over stuff.

Highly recommended! Tell all your fashionista mom friends!

Newborn Mama Products I’m Loving!

Our little Sofia Mae is two weeks old this week… can’t believe it! In some ways it’s flown by, and in others it feels like the past two weeks has been one big long day. Mostly because I’ve been up with her every couple of hours for her to feed. Sofia isn’t latching as well as Lola did (and she falls asleep SO easily — takes after her daddy! haha!) so I’m doing everything I can to help my supply keep up with her needs.

I ordered a bunch of things online (because what else do you do when you’re up all hours of the night with only a phone to keep you entertained) that had good reviews for helping moms increase their milk supply. I wanted to tell you about the two things in particular that I tried that are working really well for me (other than staying hydrated and sleeping more… that last one is easier said than done).

All the specs about the products are below, but in general, I love the Milkflow drink because it really did help me to increase my milk production, and it’s DELICIOUS! I like it as either a hot cocoa or putting it into my morning coffee for a cafe mocha. The Milkies are great because it helps me to preserve every drop that I’m trying so hard to create! So when Sofia is feeding on one side, it’s saving what I’m “leaking” on the other (sorry, TMI). With Sofia only drinking about 4oz at each feeding, being able to save 2oz that would have otherwise been lost is a big deal!

Miss Em’s Baby Items You’ll Go Ga-Ga For!

I went to Miss Em’s Holiday Open House last weekend, and saw SO many cute things! With me being 9 months preggo, I especially loved that she added baby items to her site this year! I got a few things, like a really cute little handprint and footprint set that I can create with our new little one and hang in her new room once she arrives! Yay! Baby’s first craft project is already planned! haha!

I also bought a really cute “Tickle Monster” book (comes with a furry “monster” glove with holes for fingers to do some good tickling!) for my older daughter, which she’s going to just LOVE.

I saw a bunch of other cute things I now wish I had just bought, because I now either want them for one of my girls or I’ve thought of who they’d make the perfect gift for! So, I’m about to go check out her new  “Baby” page on her site to order more!

To check out the pics below I snapped at her last event to see some of my favorite items I found!  If you’re looking for holiday gifts, need a gift for a baby shower coming up, or just want some fun new items for your little one, make sure you check out her website for more items, or stop by the Lawrenceburg Holiday Market November 20th – 22nd to get some wonderful gifts!img_7622img_7623img_7624img_7625img_7626img_7627

Baby Bodyguards = Best Idea EVER

1919652_728257117259524_8276432707675604960_n

I feel like I live in a completely different house now that my daughter is mobile. I look at every piece of furniture, edge, and light socket to see if Lola will either try to eat it, climb it, or accidentally split her head open on it. And, unfortunately, I don’t realize which one of these options every.single.thing. in our house will be until Lola goes ahead and shows me.

That’s why I felt like the skies parted, rays of sunshine poured out, and angels started singing when I learned about Baby Bodyguards. They are literally just that — bodyguards for your baby — providing safety services for families with babies and small children. This includes home babyproofing, certified car seat installation, and in-home CPR classes.

Parents have enough to do without worrying about how safe their home environment is. They just come in, walk through the home with the parent, and install any necessary devices.

I told them what their goals are when they come into a house and they said these three things:

Safety without too many restrictions. Kids should be free to explore, learn, and have fun. It’s their home, too.

Education. It’s not just about installing safety equipment; we teach parents about what to watch out for and how they can easily identify and remove potential hazards. Every aspect of our service includes teaching parents new skills.

Thoroughness. We know what small children are likely to get into, and we know how to take care of the things that are threats. Putting in a few outlet covers or cabinet latches is a false sense of security. We don’t want parents to say “I wish I had known about this danger” after an accident happens.

The owners of the business credit their son for being their inspiration. But he’s not the crazy, increasingly-mobile toddler you’re probably envisioning. Dylan Weidlich (their son) was going to school in Chicago and became an EMT for Loyola University. He began working with several Chicago firefighters–providing CPR classes for expectant parents, becoming certified and installing car seats, and consulting with Chicago Children’s Hospital on car seats for post-operative children and children with other special needs. When he returned to Cincinnati, he wanted to continue working with families on safety issues. Dylan’s mom and dad joined him, and they found a family in Brooklyn that was doing this work as Baby Bodyguards. This Cincinnati-based business became their first location outside of New York City.

To learn more about them, visit www.babybodyguards.com and/or like them on Facebook at Baby Bodyguards of SW Ohio. Lots of great info — and new moms and grandparents (or friends and family, this is a great gift idea!) definitely look into this! Such an amazing idea if you have a little one who’s more mobile every day!

I’d write more but I have a crazy toddler to catch! haha! 🙂
