You all know that I love a good sale. You also know that A Village Gift Shop in Glendale is one of my favorite places to shop. Well, tomorrow is going to be a great day because there will be a huge SALE at the store I love!!!

This is awesome because it’s right before the holidays and they have a TON of great gift and entertaining items (and they wrap for free!). Everything from dips and decor to make your holiday party super chic (and yummy)… to gifts for women, men, babies and even pets.

I love putting together gift baskets by combining a few different small items to personalize the gifts for each person I’m giving them to…
– For my fashionista foodie friends, I’ve given a Gourmet Du Village dip mix paired with a Mud Pie dip spreader, and an Alex and Ani bangle bracelet she can add to her arm party collection
– For my friend who walks to her downtown job from her condo in OTR, a pair of their recycled finger-less gloves, paired with a blanket scarf and boot toppers (gives you a cute look of tall sweater socks and lace at the top of your boots without the bulk of big socks
– For my mom who loves to travel, a travel jewelry wrap and a CHART metalworks necklace to remind her of home.

A Village Gift Shop at the Century House is located at 3 Village Square 45246. They’re open Monday – Wednesday 10-6 Thursday and Friday 10-7 Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 12-5.

Recap: “Shop for a Cause” at A Village Gift Shop

On Oct. 21, Cincy Chic hosted a “Shop for a Cause” event at A Village Gift Shop in Glendale to benefit the Pink Ribbon Girls. My friend Diane owns the store and she’s AWESOME to work with.

She’ll host a shopping event with anyone who’d like to, where she provides refreshments and a fab shopping experience (she has the BEST gifts and accessories!). You provide the people, and then she gives a portion of all sales from the night to a charity of your choice at the end of the night! It’s so easy!

We did something similar last year and it was a big success. This year, we wanted to do something that directly helps local breast cancer survivors during breast cancer awareness month. So, Diane and I put together this idea to partner with PRG (a great organization if you don’t know about them already — they provide house cleaning, meals… all the necessities of life… to local breast cancer survivors and their families, while they undergo treatments).

From the event, we were able to raise $350 for PRG and they got some GREAT exposure, too! Not only did they get to share with all our attendees some info about their organization, but they also got to promote on Q102, who was there at our event!

Make sure you “like” A Village Gift Shop on Facebook so you can find out about other fun events they’re hosting in the future! And give them a call at (513) 771-3927 if you’re interested in holding a charity shopping event with them! I definitely recommend it!

Check out some of the pics from our event below!

Shop for a Cause at A Village Gift Shop

A Village Gift Shop in Glendale lets you give back to your favorite charity while shopping for the things you love.

Did you know that there’s a local business where you can shop for things you love while giving back to your favorite charity? A Village Gift Shop at The Century House in historic downtown Glendale offers exclusive shopping events where a portion of the proceeds are donated to the organizer’s charity of choice.

Diane Agricola, the owner of A Village Gift Shop, says giving back is an initiative that’s near and dear to her heart. “All of us here at A Village Gift Shop personally have worked and raised funds for organizations that are meaningful to each of us,” she explains. “It was very easy for us to embrace using our boutique as a way to host events for other groups who also feel a calling to help charities important to them.”

A Village Gift Shop is a shop that carries everything from home decor and gift items to fashion accessories and select pieces of clothing. Featured brands include: Alex and Ani, Rookwood Pottery, Hobo and Maruca Design.

The number of charity shopping events each month varies, although Agricola says they hope to host one to two groups per month. They’re also typically held between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., but morning and afternoon events can also be accommodated.

Agricola says those who have hosted shopping events at the shop are always pleased with the experience. “During a shopping event, we provide guests with light refreshments, the chance to enter a drawing for a gift basket, and a discount for a future visit to A Village Gift Shop,” says Agricola. “A portion of all sales goes directly to the group’s charity during a scheduled shopping event.”

According to Agricola, the shop has worked with several charities to host events, including Autistic Endeaves, which helps children with Autism in a safe learning environment; Karama Connection, a nonprofit organization with an orphanage in Tanzania; William Breidenstein Fund, a local Glendale child with ongoing medical needs; and Shop for a Viking, the Princeton School District’s PTO fundraising group.

Review: Ella B Neighborhood Candles

We hosted a decorating party at A Village Gift Shop in Glendale a couple weeks ago for our upcoming Bras with Flair on the Square event (coming up on Oct. 2!!) and while I was there I found what might possibly be the BEST smelling candles ever! They’re called Ella B Candles. They’re hand-poured in Charlotte, NC and pure soy (so you don’t have to worry about the chemicals or not burning clean). Company is 4 years old, owned by a husband and wife team.

The ladies at the shop told me that they have a great holiday line every year, and they even do customized candles. A Village Gift Shop stocks Wyoming, Glendale, OTR, Cincinnati, West Chester and Mason neighborhood candles — what an awesome gift idea! Makes a wonderful gift for someone new to the area or moving from the area, or a hostess gift, or holiday gift. And they smell UH-MAZE-ING! Definitely check them out!

Gourmet du Village at A Village Gift Shop

I stopped in A Village Gift Shop the other day and found this great line of goodies called “Gourmet du Village” and I just had to share because it’s perfect for fall and all those holiday get-togethers coming up!

Gourmet du Village is a gourmet gift food manufacturer. So, yummy dips, mixes, and seasonings as well as cute displays, warmers, chillers, tableware and bakeware. My favorite is the Bistro Brie Baker, and they have yummy cheese toppers too. Such a great alternative to a boring bottle of wine for a hostess gift!

Check out the webcast below as I chat with Ramona at A Village Gift Shop to learn more about Gourmet du Village, or go to A Village Gift Shop in Glendale to check them out for yourself! Cincy Chic is hosting a pre-holiday event there on Nov. 21, so click here to RSVP for it and we can shop together! Hope to see you there!

Review: Cross Body Bags by Maruca

marucaSo, as I mentioned last week, I’m on a mission to not buy anything “maternity” during my pregnancy. I’ve been pulling things from my closet that fit me pre-pregnancy but have a little extra room or stretch in all the right places. Now that I’m 6 months pregnant, though, there are only about 20 things in my current wardrobe that I can still wear. But I’m still determined to not buy anything maternity (now I understand why my husband calls me hard-headed! haha!) So, I needed to go out and do a little shopping this weekend. I went to Target and found a ton of great maxi dresses, including this orange one. The maxis are awesome because they fit around the “girls,” have elastic around the ribs, and then are flowy and full of room from there on down.

My favorite place to accessorize is A Village Gift Shop in Glendale, so I went there next. I always find the best jewelry there (most of what I find is $15-30, so it’s REALLY affordable). Not only did I find great necklaces and bracelets this time though, but I also found a great new handbag. I think it’ll be a staple for my entire summer!

It’s a Cross Body Bag by Maruca. They’re made in Boulder, Colorado and have that boho chic, festival fashion feel to them.  I like them so much because they’re the perfect size, and I love the colors and patterns they use. The picture doesn’t do them justice, but their bags are made from a fabric called “Jacquard”…Jacquard means an intricately woven pattern using a special loom in the weaving process. Their threads are cottons, rayons and synthetics—many of which are from recycled plastic!

They’re reasonably priced at $70, and you’ll feel good when you buy these bags too because Maruca contributes to a bunch of different humanitarian causes, according to their website. To name a few… Boulder Valley Women’s Health, Attention Homes, I have a Dream, Children’s Diabetes Foundation, Boulder County Aids Project, Freedom Service Dogs, Community Food Share, and Attention Homes.

I just thought this was such an on-trend style with tons of outdoor concerts, fairs, and festivals like Bunbury coming up in Cincinnati this summer. There are lots of different styles available at A Village Gift Shop in Glendale, so I recommend checking them out!

FREE Holiday Decor How-To Happy Hour

Happy November! Yes, the month where turkey is served, garland is hung and gifts are shopped for! So, me and my team at Cincy Chic came up with a fun event idea to get you ready for it all! We partnered up with Diane Agricola, who owns Agricola Redesign and A Village Gift Shop in Glendale, to host a holiday decor how-to happy hour event Nov 7 at the gift shop! It’s free and includes refreshments for all attendees, decor how-to workshop stations, discounted shopping and a swag bag for all attendees! Click here to learn more and RSVP! Oh, and the gift shop doesn’t just have great home decor items, they also have one of the best jewelry selections in town! Check out the necklace I just got there!

See you next week at the event!
