Review: WashClub CincyDay

As a mom of a toddler and newborn (with a husband who loves working on his car and in the yard), I feel like I’m LIVING in my laundry room… constantly washing, drying, folding, sorting, putting away, repeat. I was joking with one of my mom friends a couple weeks ago about how I wish there was a laundry fairy that would visit my house and take care of it all so I could finally have my life back… and she said such a thing actually exists (WHAT?!?)

Come to find out, it’s true (well, except they don’t have fairy wings! haha!). There’s a service called Wash Club, and it’s a full service wash, dry, fold, dry cleaning and tailoring service via an easy and super convenient pick-up and delivery service which they do for individuals, schools, clubs and businesses! It’s an on-demand service based on two daily pick-up and delivery windows serving all of Cincinnati, Dayton and NKY. Typically it’s a one day turnaround, but you can get same-day turnaround if you need it!

I personally love how they’ve leveraged technology to make it all so easy. You get started by going to their awesome app or website (or you can give them an old fashioned phone call too) to place your order. You have your choice of detergents, fabric softeners, and deep fabric cleaners. Their technology provides instant communication on the status of your order, notifications on where it is in the process, and you can track the driver so you know exactly how far away they are.

It’s more than just laundry and dry cleaning though. They have tailoring, suede and leather cleaning and garment preservation for special items like wedding dresses and military uniforms.

My favorite part has to be that they not only pick up, deliver, clean and fold, but they also SEPARATE everything out by family member so I don’t have to sort it once it arrives! SO amazing! HIGHLY recommended. To learn more about it, click here!

Newborn Mama Products I’m Loving!

Our little Sofia Mae is two weeks old this week… can’t believe it! In some ways it’s flown by, and in others it feels like the past two weeks has been one big long day. Mostly because I’ve been up with her every couple of hours for her to feed. Sofia isn’t latching as well as Lola did (and she falls asleep SO easily — takes after her daddy! haha!) so I’m doing everything I can to help my supply keep up with her needs.

I ordered a bunch of things online (because what else do you do when you’re up all hours of the night with only a phone to keep you entertained) that had good reviews for helping moms increase their milk supply. I wanted to tell you about the two things in particular that I tried that are working really well for me (other than staying hydrated and sleeping more… that last one is easier said than done).

All the specs about the products are below, but in general, I love the Milkflow drink because it really did help me to increase my milk production, and it’s DELICIOUS! I like it as either a hot cocoa or putting it into my morning coffee for a cafe mocha. The Milkies are great because it helps me to preserve every drop that I’m trying so hard to create! So when Sofia is feeding on one side, it’s saving what I’m “leaking” on the other (sorry, TMI). With Sofia only drinking about 4oz at each feeding, being able to save 2oz that would have otherwise been lost is a big deal!

Miss Em’s Baby Items You’ll Go Ga-Ga For!

I went to Miss Em’s Holiday Open House last weekend, and saw SO many cute things! With me being 9 months preggo, I especially loved that she added baby items to her site this year! I got a few things, like a really cute little handprint and footprint set that I can create with our new little one and hang in her new room once she arrives! Yay! Baby’s first craft project is already planned! haha!

I also bought a really cute “Tickle Monster” book (comes with a furry “monster” glove with holes for fingers to do some good tickling!) for my older daughter, which she’s going to just LOVE.

I saw a bunch of other cute things I now wish I had just bought, because I now either want them for one of my girls or I’ve thought of who they’d make the perfect gift for! So, I’m about to go check out her new  “Baby” page on her site to order more!

To check out the pics below I snapped at her last event to see some of my favorite items I found!  If you’re looking for holiday gifts, need a gift for a baby shower coming up, or just want some fun new items for your little one, make sure you check out her website for more items, or stop by the Lawrenceburg Holiday Market November 20th – 22nd to get some wonderful gifts!img_7622img_7623img_7624img_7625img_7626img_7627

Review: Cooking Classes at Out Of Thyme Kitchen Studio

14729397_10154758488016282_6592932745139880665_n

Well, my night was awesome (and delicious!). To prep for being homebound with a newborn again soon, I decided to take the “7 skills of a highly effective cook” cooking class tonight at Out Of Thyme Kitchen Studio and it was incredible! In two hours, I learned everything from knife skills and mincing like they do in the cooking shows, to blanching/shocking, searing, and making homemade whipped cream/mousse. There were people there by themselves, couples, best friends and a mother/son — all different levels, but everyone learned something and then ate together at the end! So fun! Oh and don’t worry Pete, I’m bringing home lots of leftovers! Haha!

Cincy Chic Review: 4D Ultrasound at Becoming Mom Spa + Ultrasound

I recently got a VERY cool 4D Ultrasound at Becoming Mom Spa + Ultrasound. Not only do I love going there for the “I can’t wait” package where you get to learn the gender a whole month earlier than at your doctor, but they also have the latest imaging technology where you can see your baby’s face in 4D for the first time! Watch for a virtual tour and video as I take you along for the special experience!

Storyteller: BabysitEase

I love telling stories behind area businesses and the ways they help local women. That’s why I wanted to start the Storyteller series on Cincy Chic. The next one up hits home for many reasons. Not only is Peggy, the founder of BabysitEase, a personal friend of mine, but her concept also LITERALLY hits home.

As a working mama who runs a business, I know what it’s like to need a babysitter unexpectedly but you don’t want to ask the flaky teenager down the street just because you’re in a bind. There’s also a lot of other things (especially now that I’m preggo and about to have another little human running around soon) I just need help with to keep the house together and my mind somewhat sane.

That’s where BabysitEase can help. They’ve already done all the background checks and all the other vetting a parent wants to do when they have more time to do their research. And there’s a database of babysitters and home helpers just waiting to lend a hand when you need it.

That’s right, BabysitEase isn’t just for babysitting. For parents that need help with running errands, getting the house tidied, spaces organized, laundry run or grocery shopping check off their list- they have a team of organized, clean obsessed women that know how to make life easier for active families. For $12-20/hr you can get projects completed, and make some good headway on that never ending to-do list. Register at BabysitEase.com or call 859.442.7487 to find out how they can make life simpler for you.

Child Safety Tips, My Personal Story

Watch as our Editor In Chic Amy Scalia shares her personal message about child safety

About a year into being a mom, I joked that I could write a book about all the things mom-to-be books don’t tell you. That was before my daughter could walk, so now I feel like I could fill an entire library!

Here’s one of my biggest lessons learned, and I hope sharing my story helps you, too…

Like I said, I read all those mommy-to-be books, and I thought I had my house prepped for Lola’s arrival. But once she took those first steps, everything changed. She was all the sudden getting into things I never dreamed she could reach or open yet.

Thank GOODNESS, right after she started getting mobile, I saw a commercial that was my “a-ha” moment. The commercial was about everyday dangers in a home, and one of them were laundry pacs. At first, I thought “well, duh, who would just leave those sitting out in front of a baby?” And then I realized that I was essentially doing just that.

My laundry room door was closed, but Lola can now open doors. If she did, all my products – including laundry pacs – were on a shelf she could probably reach, and the container was opened because it was easier to not have to fuss with opening it each time I needed one. Holy. Cow.

Like I said, this was my “a-ha” moment to make it safe if she ever did get in there (which you know she eventually would). I made a promise to myself to always keep all my laundry and cleaning products up and closed from this point forward. But, of course, with style. I took to Pinterest to find some cute DIY shelving that keeps everything out of reach for her but still within reach for me to grab-and-go when I need it.

I feel a MILLION times better with that little afternoon shelving project, and now, I want to spread the word so other parents can do the same. When it comes to laundry pacs, keep them up and keep them closed to keep your kiddos safe!
