Bras with Flair Recap

Wow! I’m STILL amazed at how incredible last night’s Bras with Flair on the Square event went! First of all, mother nature did us a huuuuuge favor and was gorgeous, sunny and the perfect temperature – a dream come true for an outdoor event. Secondly, it was packed the entire day. Hundreds of Cincinnatians came out to check out all the decorated bras.

After work, lots of people came out to have a drink, dine and shop in style for the ta-ta-tini party. And lastly, for the fabulous fashion show, it went off without a hitch. There were so many details coordinating the show, music, jumbotron, etc… but it all went perfectly, and I couldn’t be happier.

First we had a high-end fashion show with ALK Fashion. Then we recognized the five local survivors who we found through the Cincinnati.com contest. We showed their videos they taped before their makeovers, and then they strutted the catwalk after their makeover. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. It really moved people to see these real-life warriors, hear their stories and see them shine in that fashion show. It reminded me why I work so hard, and dedicate so much time, to important causes like Susan G. Komen.

After the show we went to Tonic for the after party where the top 10 bras where paired with things like spa packages, boutique gift certificates and an iPod. We don’t have a final number on the amount raised for Komen, but I know for sure it’s more than $2,000! YAY!

Thomas E. Smith (one of my favorite local photogs) was at the fashion show and after party taking pics for The Enquirer. He does such a great job, especially at fashion shows – which isn’t easy because it’s very fast paced, the lighting is tough to get right and no one stands still for long to get a good focus. But Thomas does a great job. Click here to check out the photo album of the show.

Sneak Peek of new ALK Fashion line to be released with the Oct. 1 Bras with Flair event (click to enlarge)

As part of our Bras with Flair on the Square event Oct. 1, we’re doing a fashion show on Fountain Square.

There will be two parts of the show… a high-end fashion show featuring ALK Fashion, and then a survivor fashion show featuring Serket Jewelry.

I’m super excited because Amy Kirchen, the designer for ALK is going to custom make a dress for me to wear at this event. I just got fitted for it on Monday!

I sent her a picture of this dress for inspiration. I sent her a few other fun necklines too. But I do want the dress pink because it’s a breast cancer fundraiser, and I want everyone to “think pink” for this event! I can’t wait to see the final product!

The photo to the right is a sneak peek of ALK’s new line that will be released with the Bras with Flair show. I couldn’t pull off this plunging neck line, but I know a lot of women who could! And look at that strong shoulder! Reminds me of an 80s power suit. This dress just has the perfect balance of sexy and strength.

Click here to see a photo I snapped of a few sketches Amy brought to our Bras with Flair fashion show meeting. As you can see, ALK’s new line will feature a lot of bold black pieces. I’m kind of excited that black is the “new black.” I love how glamorous, timeless and classy the color black is!

Can’t wait to see the rest of the line on Oct. 1! Click here to buy tickets to the show!

And remember, tomorrow is your last chance to nominate yourself if you’re a breast cancer survivor in need of some pampering! Cincy Chic and Locals on Living will be recognizing survivors at our Bras with Flair on the Square event, and will be giving a pamper/shopping package to one lucky survivor! But tomorrow is the deadline for submissions! I’ll keep you posted on the finalists and how you can vote!

Red, Pink and Blue Fashion Show on Purple People Bridge

RPB

What’s red, pink, blue and purple all over? The upcoming Red, Pink and Blue fashion show on the Purple People Bridge, of course! : )

My company, Cincy Chic, is teaming up with Locals on Living for the second annual Red, Pink and Blue (RPB)! And I have to tell ya… of the 50+ events we produce/host/promote every year, this is my FAVORITE!

It’s a women’s health awareness event with a fashionable twist. The “Red” for heart health, “Pink” for breast health, and “Blue” for diabetes health. The Red, Pink and Blue name plays off the fourth of July… aka red, white and blue… time of year.

rpb2The three organizations benefiting from this event are the American Heart Association, Pink Ribbon Girls and the American Diabetes Association. The organizations make their money from ticket sales, raffle sales, and donations made at the event.

RPB will take place on Friday June 25 on the Kentucky landing of the Purple People Bridge. Come out and enjoy an evening on the bridge with food, drinks, shopping and a fashion show. St. Elizabeth Healthcare will have a mammography van there and you can also get a complimentary blood pressure check. The event will start at 6:30 p.m., the fashion show will begin at 9 p.m., and the After Party kicks off at Star Lanes on the Levee at 10:30 p.m. (If it rains, we’ll be inside Star Lanes, using the bowling alleys as our runway!)
