One of our vendors at the event, Ceci David, just sent me an email about one of the items she’ll have on display at her booth. Stella & Dot just came out with a new charm line, and this super cute paw print charm is one of them! Click here or watch the video below to learn more! See you at the event!
I know, I know. A swimsuit isn’t anything we want to think about right now (especially as I sit here eating a pint of Graeter’s). The only thing that actually makes “bathing suit season” sound remotely good right now (other than a Corona with an ocean view) is shopping for my new beach-bound fashions! Swimwear, matching jewelry, cover-ups, hats, and bags! So, if you’d like to see what the newest water wardrobe trends will be this year, make sure you save the date for our upcoming Cincy Chic “Fun in the Sun” fashion show on May 17 at Pirate’s Cove Tropical Bar & Grill.
We’re going to do two fashion shows – one at 7:30, featuring just swimsuits and jewelry. Then, we’re doing a bonus show (we’re going to surprise guests!) at 8:30 featuring the suits styled with cute cover-ups, beach bags, hats and other accessories.
If you haven’t been to Pirate’s Cove yet, then you MUST visit – it’s the Tri-State’s truly tropical hidden gem! This open-air bar and grill is complete with a tiki hut atmosphere. It sits right on the marina overlooking the water, has awesome food, yummy tropical drinks, fun live music… I feel like I’m on vacation every time I go! Just to give you an idea of what it’s like there, I embedded a Pirate’s Cove commercial below so you can see the footage of the venue! It’s going to be the PERFECT place to host this swimwear fashion show! Can’t wait!
Hope to see you there! But for now, back to my Graeter’s! 🙂 mmmm…
I fell in love with Stella & Dot jewelry (and their adorable packaging!) last year. This year? I fell in love with their new handbag line.
They just launched it and I think I want every single one of them. I found out about them from a mass email they sent out about the launch. I thought, meh, handbags… seen one, seen ’em all. But then I opened the email.
Oh. My. Gosh. Not only are they adorable and fashionable, but they’re practical and pretty well-priced if you consider what you’re getting. The line features premium, luxury leathers manufactured in the same production houses used by Coach, Kate Spade & Marc Jacobs – but their price point is 25-50% less than other premium price point handbags.
Fabrics include lambskin, embossed snakeskin and crinkle patent. They they come in all different sizes. Larger totes, clutches (one of them actually is an iPad case by day/clutch by night which is all kinds of awesome), and one small enough to just fit your iPhone/keys.
Why the new offering? Well, I’m told by my personal S&D rep, Ceci David, that the handbags are an extension to the jewelry collection and a great way to finish your look. But, I can only imagine that their new Director of Merchandising, Jessica Nelson, also has something to do with it.
After a little research on her, I found some of these impressive things out about this go-getter gal:
– After college worked in factories in Como Italy and Hong kong, which instilled her love of rich textiles and all different accessories – scarves, handbags, small goods (could we be seeing new S&D scarves soon???)
– Worked at Coach…a great company to learn about the heritage of a strong American brand…
– Worked with incredible designers at Marc Jacobs
– Worked in Production at Marc by Marc Jacobs for one year on the Collection Accessories Team. During this time, she briefly lived and worked in Milan where she learned about leathers and craftsmanship.
– She most recently left Marc by Marc Jacobs as Director of Merchandising
Here are some price-points to give you an idea (you can check out pics and learn more about everything here):
*Key pouch $44
*La Coco Clutch $158 – patent pending – allows you to dress up your clutch by attaching one of their many la coco brooches
*LaFayette Cross Body Bag $148
*Waverly 3 Way Bag $258 – large bag for day, fits iPad, turn into large evening clutch by removing strap folding over
Ceci tells me that the La Coco Clutch is featured in InStyle magazine this month in “Launches You’ll Love!” so make sure you check that out! And then get your little posh paws on these new purses! So fab!

In January, Cincy Chic did an event at Mitchell’s and had a few different vendors there to showcase the new trends for the new year. One of those vendors was my friend Ceci David with Stella & Dot.
Apparently, she sold a few things at the event. So, she emailed me the next day and told me that got me $150 in free products. I wasn’t expecting to get anything, so I was very excited! She said that when you host jewelry parties with her, you get rewards! So, I went to her site, and picked out an Audrey Hepburn-esque pearl necklace and matching earrings. I thought it would be perfect for dressing up an LBD. And I have the perfect pair of shoes (which I wore on my wedding day)!
When I got them in the mail, the packaging was so cute, I just had to share the experience in the video below.
I told Ceci I made this video and would be posting it to the blog to let everyone know how special it is to get something in the mail from S&D. She was so excited and said it was perfect timing because a big wig from the company was coming into town on Feb. 7. So, anyone reading this interested in meeting one of the masterminds at S&D, you can! Below is some info about the event tomorrow!
Stella & Dot’s Spring line captures the essence of the season with easy-to-wardrobe, ready-to-wear chic and affordable accessories that make it simple for a woman to be stylish. Many of our pieces are extraordinarily versatile as well, playing into the trend of ‘convertible clothing’ at a time when women are anxious to make a little go along way without breaking the bank. Several of our new pieces have already been featured in InStyle & People magazines.
Our Vice President of Training, Danielle Redner, is coming to Cincinnati next week for a “Meet Stella & Dot” opportunity event in West Chester on the evening of February 7th at the Cincinnati Marriott North that is open to the public. We are also holding a training event for all Stylists in the area the following day. It is the first time anyone from corporate has come to the Cincinnati area.
Our jewelry itself is editor-adored and celebrity coveted but even more exciting is that the business opportunity for women in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area is HUGE. We are a billion dollar global brand in the making but really just in our infancy in this area. For women who want to re-enter the work-force, part or full-time, it’s an ideal modern and flexible way to do it on their own terms. Stella & Dot paid out over $50 million in commissions last year!
As background, here’s a link to a story from Sequoia Capital Partners who just recently invested $37 million in our business.
