Mother Nature has finally decided to let up a bit and the sun is actually SHINING today!! Woohoo! I have an idea! Let’s celebrate with some new designer shades! 😎
Seriously though, what better way to welcome in the new weather with some chic new sunglasses? My gals at Cincy Chic are partnering up with the nice folks on the Cincinnati EyeCare Team to host a Designer Eyewear Trunk Show on March 10 to do just that! There, you’ll be able to browse more than 500 of the newest frames, and get designer brand eyewear at a fraction of the cost (print out the invite below and bring it to the event for 25% off!). But it’s for one day only! Click here to get all the details about the event!
I hope to see you there! And then I hope to see lots more sunshine in our future! 🙂
What do Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have in common… other than Brad Pitt? Tom Ford Sunglasses of course!
They’ve both been spotted trotting around Tinseltown in these spectacular specs. Lots of other stars love this brand, too… Gwenyth. Rihanna, Demi, and Kim Kardashian just to name a few.
Well, here’s your chance to share shades with the stars. I just found out about a Tom Ford sunglass trunk show going on tomorrow at Gamine, an adorable store in Dayton (promise it’s worth the drive). On Dec. 16 from 1-5pm, their Tom Ford rep will be at the store that day with all the latest styles for women and men.
They’re giving 15% off all Tom Ford Sunglasses purchases that day. Plus, if you bring in an unwrapped toy for them to donate, they’ll give you an additional 5% off your Tom Ford purchase! The price tag for this brand averages around $300-$400, so a 20% discount can save you a big chunk of change.
Here’s where you can find Gamine (formerly The Pink Daisy):
2504 Far Hills Ave.
Dayton, OH 45419
Like I said, it’s a drive, but I promise it’s worth it! They carry lines by Velvet, Milly, Nanette Lepore, Michael Stars, Tory Burch, J Brand, Susanna Monaco, Chan Luu, Kendra Scott, Big Buddha, Joie, Paige Denim, Diane von Furstenburg and Theory. Gamine is like Cincy’s north star of fashion!
There are two theories when it comes to sunglasses:
1) Buy expensive ones so you are more careful to not break or lose them
2) Buy cheap ones because they will inevitably get broken or lost
I started out subscribing to theory #2 because, frankly, I didn’t have the financial ability to do otherwise. After college, I gave #1 a try and I admit it worked. Unfortunately, I moved six times in six years and my first splurgy shades got lost somewhere in the mix. I was so mad at myself for losing them, I went back to the #2 theory.
But last week, I broke my cheapo pair of sunglasses. And I lost the few cheapos I had before it, so I’m back to square one… or two… can’t decide which theory. But I know I need some shades asap because that thing called “sun” we haven’t seen for ages is actually coming out a little more often and my baby blues need some protection.
So, I’ve been doing some research. On the cheap side, Forever21 wins without a doubt. Most pairs go for $5.80 and are super stylish. They probably wont last long, but if you’re going to lose or break them any way, who cares.
While researching the expensive side, I did find a fun line called Killture. I don’t think I could ever pull off something like this. Very few people could, but Lady Gaga is one of them.
If you have a taste for swanky shades, but have an aversion to wearing studs near your eyeballs, there’s a designer eyewear trunk show in West Chester coming up soon you might want to check out. Here are the deets:
Monday, March 22, 4:30 – 7:30pm
Cincinnati EyeCare Team
Union Centre Blvd Location
8629 N. Pavillion Dr.
West Chester, OH 45069
Designer Trunk Show featuring Prada, Dolce & Gabbana & Ray-Ban. Eyewear vendors will have their full selection of eyewear on hand to try on and purchase. Special discounts up to 20% off. You will also be able to register to win a free pair of sunglasses at the event.
I’ve never been to this shop before, but my cousin just opened a wine bar (The Wise Owl) right near there. So I might stop in there for a glass of liquid courage to go back to my theory #1 ways.
