Hyde Park’s Castle House Celebrates Grand Opening

CINCINNATI, OH- Castle House, a children’s boutique, will hold a grand opening celebration on November 14, 2014, from 10am -8pm, at its newly renovated location, 3435 Edwards Rd in Hyde Park.

The store has a rich history in Cincinnati, closing earlier this year after nearly 60 years in business. It was opened in 1955 by Mel Castle, who then sold the store in 1966 to Joan Stamm, who operated the store until its closing.

The store was then purchased and is being re-opened by Jennifer Bastos; a Hyde Park resident and mother of three young children who has a background in finance.

“Castle House was an institution in Cincinnati, and I was devastated when it closed,” said Bastos. “I live just two blocks away, I love kid’s clothes and fashion, and from working in finance, I understood the aspects of running a business. I saw this as a challenge and a great opportunity to bring back a beloved institution in the community.”

Bastos emphasizes Castle House’s customer service and overall experience. She has built a brand new playroom complete with iPads, television, games and a chalkboard to entertain children while parents and grandparents are shopping.

“Castle House is different from your typical children’s clothing store. There is no other store like it in the community, with brands and customer service you won’t find anywhere else. Our merchandise ranges from infant to teenager and every employee knows how to properly fit children,” said Bastos.

The store specializes in clothing for special occasions including First Communions, weddings, holidays and birthdays. They will be the only store in the Midwest to sell Klenfield’s first line of special occasion dresses; Klenfield is featured on the popular TLC show “Say Yes to the Dress”.

The new store will have a concierge service, where customers can call or email in for a gift and they will wrap it and ship it. Bastos has also created a gift wall, where customers can easily find gifts specific to any occasion such as baptisms, birthdays or First Communion.

“I have so much respect for the previous owner Joan Stamm and I really feel honored to be able to continue this great legacy and tradition,” said Bastos.

The official grand re-opening event will give customers the opportunity to see the new renovations, merchandise and features of the store. The day will be filled with fun for the entire family including; music, cupcakes, popcorn, cookies, balloons and a candy bar.
