I’ve been following Kailah Ware and 1DegreeOf Separation ever since we did a Cincy Chic feature story about her and the project a few months ago. She also did some AMAZING videography work for us to cover our Lady in Red event this year (click here to check it out!)

That’s why I was excited to hear that she’s officially launching 1DegreeOf Separation this week with a touch installation featuring community-sourced stories that revolve around the question: “What do you love about Cincinnati?”

The opening will be hostedSept. 16 at Rhinegeist Brewery (Elm St) from 6:30pm to 10pm.

Artist, Kailah Ware, was awarded a People’s Liberty Project Grant last November and is debuting her project September 16.  1DegreeOf Separation will use touch screen technology to activate films that tell engaging stories of Greater Cincinnati residents. At the end of the installation, viewers will have the opportunity to record themselves and share their own positive experiences as a resident of Greater Cincinnati.

These community-sourced stories foster a spirit of inclusivity that will make the city of Cincinnati a thought leader in the use of storytelling as a model for strengthening its communities. “I am confident 1DegreeOf Separation can achieve national recognition and have a lasting impact on the city of Cincinnati,” says Ware.

People’s Liberty Project grants, powered by the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation, provide opportunities for individuals to implement innovative community development projects in Greater Cincinnati.
