Review: We Olive & Wine Bar

Late last year, we wrote a story about We Olive & Wine Bar coming to downtown Cincinnati. I love love love cooking with extra virgin olive oil, which is what they specialize in there. I also love olive oil for my skin/hair/nails, but that’s another story! Oh, and of course I love wine, too! So, I’ve been meaning to check this mecca-for-me place out for a while now.

I *finally* got the chance to last week and it was uh-maze-ing! When you walk in, it feels like you stepped into a European/Californian grotto. Their big patio for al fresco dining (and downtown people watching) is nice, too. Then they have a bunch of olive oils for you taste and learn about, and the staff is awesome about explaining everything and giving tips on how to use it.

But the best way to learn how to use it is by seeing and tasting how the oil gurus themselves cook with it. They have a delish menu with everything from light bites (artisan cheeses, olives, breads, charcuterie, hummus and other dips) to salads, paninis, flatbreads, and even gelato — all of which (yes even the gelato) use their variety of oils, vinegars, balsamics, dips and spices that you can find in-store!

Oh and the wine… the wine the wine the wine. They have a great selection of wines, and they do a fab job of pairing the wines with the different flavors of your dishes.

You can rent the place out, too. I think it’d make for a really fun and unique space for anything from a bridal shower to a corporate after hours event.

They have specials and events all the time (like a cool dinner series, live music on the patio, half-price wine days, lunch specials, etc) so make sure you sign up for their newsletter and like them on facebook to stay updated!

If you’d like to take your tastebuds on a trip to the olive fields and wine country of California (and get everything you need to do it at home too!), I definitely recommend this place!
