Lots of Amy Kirchen/Milford news this week! I told you about Kirchen announcing that she’s moving (from a small boutique in Milford to a big boutique in Milford). And now there’s more news about her. I just got a press release about a cool competition she is involved with, in cooperation with Milford-based AllyBeads.
Basically, jewelry artists are challenged to create their submissions within categories that align with the Amy Kirchen F/W 2012 clothing collection. And, winners will not only be eligible for awards presented by AllyBeads; they, will also be considered for inclusion in a Cincinnati runway event in late May featuring Kirchen’s designs. The full press release about the competition is below! Questions about the contest can be addressed to JoEllen Miller, owner of AllyBeads (513/831-8300)
Jewelry Design Competition with Runway Style
Contest open to jewelry designers in all technique areas
MILFORD, OHIO—March 15, 2012—AllyBeads Jewelry & Gifts today announced the Uptown Meets Downtown Jewelry Design Contest open to local and regional amateur jewelry designers. There are no limitations on medium, as long as the finished piece is wearable jewelry designed and fabricated by the artist. Completed designs must be submitted no later than April 23, 2012 at AllyBeads Jewelry & Gifts, 16 Main Street, Milford, Ohio. Winners will be announced on May 1, 2012.
The competition is being held in association with Amy Kirchen – a Cincinnati clothing designer – and the debut of the Amy Kirchen F/W 2012 collection. Three categories have been created that complement fashion characteristics of Kirchen’s designs.
“Amy’s store is also located in historic Milford, and this is a great example of local businesses working together,” commented JoEllen Miller, owner, AllyBeads Jewelry & Gifts. “We’re excited that she may spotlight winning designs from this competition in an upcoming May runway event featuring the Amy Kirchen F/W 2012 collection. So, I’m issuing the challenge for designers to step it up with this contest.”
AllyBeads will announce 10 winners – a Best of Show; and, a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the three categories. Contestants may enter multiple designs within a single category or across the trio of categories. Winners will be eligible for awards from AllyBeads, and their designs will be considered by Kirchen for inclusion in a Cincinnati runway event scheduled for May 31, 2012.
All jewelry designers that wish to participate are required to register. Registration by April 1, 2012, at $10 (non-refundable); registrations after April 1 will be $20. Winners will be announced May 1, 2012. Contest details and online registration are available at www.allybeads.com. For specific questions, contact AllyBeads at 513/831-8300.
