Cincy Chic Review – Clothes Mentor

Watch as I walk you through my latest Clothes Mentor experience! If you’re a long-time reader of the blog, you’ll know that I love to shop and sell with Clothes Mentor. But now that I’m preggo, I get to shop their maternity clothes for the first time (they sell all seasons of 0-26 sizes and maternity!) They have four Cincinnati locations — Hyde Park, Anderson, Fields Ertel and West Chester — so there’s probably one near you! As you’ll see in the video, they also offer free styling services so call ahead to take advantage of that! Get more info at clothesmentor.com.

Eco-Chic Fashion Show Recap!

As a Throwback Thursday, I’m throwing it aaaaaaaall the way back to almost a week ago 🙂 Last Friday, we held our sixth annual Eco-Chic Fashion Show at the Krohn Conservatory and it was amaaaaazing! Not only did we raise nearly $3k for the Friends of Krohn, but we also showcased 20 fabulous looks that are eco-friendly from head to toe… literally! In fact, all of these hairstyles were created using techniques with no water or electric, thanks to the fab stylists at Paul Mitchell the School – Cincinnati! How eco-chic is that?

I also want to give you more info about Clothes Mentor, who provided all the clothes, shoes and accessories for the show! As I mentioned at the event, you’ll want to get on their email list because they let you know about amazing sales, when they’ll pay extra for certain items, exclusive shopping events, etc. So, click on the link below of the store closest to you and then click “Join the List.” I also want to let you know that they offer FREE in-store styling services. So, for example, we have our annual Night in White event coming up where everyone is asked to wear something white. I can call up the store, tell them when I’m coming in and my size, and they will pull outfits (clothing, shoes and accessories) that fit the color/style I’m looking for. All I have to do is show up, try things on, and leave with what I like! I’ve personally done this a few times and LOVE it… oh and it’s free so you can never go wrong with that, right? 🙂 The phone number and email address of each store is listed on the links below if you want to contact them up to set up an in-store styling session!

Eco-Chic Fashion Show Sneak Peek!

I got a wild (pun intended) idea to do a sneak peek photoshoot of our upcoming Eco-Chic Fashion Show and it turned out SO well! The fashions are by Clothes Mentor, the art is by Cincinnati Art Underground (one of the many fab vendors we’ll have at the event), the styling/modeling by Brittany’s Closet (one of my interns!), and the photos are by Kelly Crotty (another one of my interns!).  Which one do you like best? Hope to see you at the event this Friday at Krohn Conservatory! RSVP here: http://ecfs16.eventbrite.com Hurry! Space is limited!

Pre-Shopping at Saturday’s Showcase Vendors

We’re gearing up for our biggest shopping event of the year (Seasonably Chic Showcase Nov. 7, 10am-2pm, at the Phoenix downtown) so I had to do a little R&D for the event, right? 🙂 I stopped by Once Upon a Child (OUAC) and Clothes Mentor (click here to read the story about Katie, my friend and the owner of the local franchises of both stores).  They will be at our holiday shopping event this Saturday, but I had a couple in-store coupons to use so I decided to check them out early. Oh by the way – if you love a great deal – make sure you get on their mailing lists to get emailed about all their AWESOME deals. I got a $5 off a $10 purchase coupon for OUAC and a $25 off a $50 purchase coupon for Clothes Mentor. They’re right next door to each other in Hyde Park, and I just haaaaaappened to have a meeting nearby so I popped in.

No joke, in the 30 minutes I had before my meeting, I dropped some things that didn’t fit Lola anymore to the front desk at OUAC. Then I went shopping for new shoes for her  so I could use my coupon. I found three shoes for $3.50 each, and they ended up paying me $8 for some of the items I brought in to sell. So after the coupon, and the cash for stuff I brought in, they paid me about $5 to take three pairs of shoes out of their store! LOVE IT!

Then, I went next door to Clothes Mentor and in 5 minutes flat, I found three dresses and two sweaters for $50, which I used my $25 off coupon on, and I walked away only paying $25 for HUNDREDS of dollars worth of stuff had I paid retail on everything (seriously, everything I got was name brand — Banana Republic, White House Black Market, Michael Kors, etc)

Below is a pic of me wearing one of the new sweaters I got (only $9) and Lola wearing a new pair of Converse shoes (yes…. $3.50 for Converse baby shoes which were barely worn and I just saw a new pair of them at Nordstrom for $25!)

Both Clothes Mentor and Once Upon a Child will have pop-up boutiques at the showcase, along 45 other AMAZING local boutiques and vendors so you can get all your shopping done under one roof! Click here to learn more and RSVP!

Start-Ups & Stilettos Sept. 11 – Sneak Peek

Our Start-Ups & Stilettos event is coming up on Sep. 11 and I’m getting SO excited for it! First off, we’ll have a TON of prizes for it! From jewelry and shopping excursions at local boutiques to  spa packages and Bengals memorabilia… we’ll have $3,000+ in raffle prizes up for grabs.

ALL proceeds from the tickets sold and the raffles go to Purposeful Painting, which is a locally launched 501c3 non-profit organization that helps women with jobs get on their feet again. I love it because it helps the “in between” women — the ones who ARE working, not on public assistance, but are in need of funds to get through a difficult time, whether it’s medical expenses, fixing a car, or any other unexpected financial blow. And the funds are raised in a fun way — local artists collectively create pieces and classes. The pieces are then sold to raise funds for the endowments. Pretty cool, huh?

I recently just bought one of the pieces for our TV room and I love it because not only is it great art, but I know it also supported a great cause. And if anyone complements us on it, I have a great story to tell!

As for the fashions in the show — this is going to be an AWESOME fashion show! Since it’s a woman-in-business themed event, all the models in the show are local female business owners! And they’ll be outfitted in the place that’s become my new obsession, Clothes Mentor  (click here to see my review and some of my fab finds!). It’s like Plato’s Closet for the professional woman — you MUST check it out! And in case you haven’t yet, they’ll be offering a sneak peek of the store with a pop-up shop at our event, and a portion of all their sales are going to Purposeful Painting!

More details about the event below. Hope to see you there!

Clothes Mentor – the Secret to Designer Style for WAY Less!

I did a Star64 shoot at Clothes Mentor a couple weeks ago and fell in LOVE. It’s like the Plato’s Closet for professional women – lots of designer stuff! I brought in a basket of things I wasn’t wearing (got $50 cash!) and while I was waiting, I found the below outfit (dress and jewelry) for only $12!

Seriously ladies, this place is AMAZING! Clean out your closet and find one of these places near you! There are three locations in Cincy (I went to their new one in Hyde Park Plaza!) Also, they’re going to be the fashion show sponsor of our Sept 11 “Start-ups and Stilettos” event — giving 10% of all sales at the event to our charity! Hope to see you there!
