If I did some genealogy research, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that there’s some werewolf in there. haha! I’ve always been a hairy girl, and then after pregnancy, the hormones made it even worse!
I noticed in a picture a couple weeks ago that the peach fuzz on my face was pretty noticeable, so I started looking into what to do about it. It’s just peach fuzz so I didn’t want to do anything drastic like waxing my entire face, or something time-consuming like a bunch of laser treatments. I heard some good things about dermaplaning (it’s actually a service to slough off the first layer of your skin — great to do in fall after you’ve been in the sun all summer — and the fact that it also gets rid of your peach fuzz is a side benefit). So, I decided to give it a try.
I’ve had a bunch of other skin services done at Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa, so I gave them a call to schedule a dermaplane. They booked me with Manisha and I LOVED her. She was very sweet, informative and thorough. Explained what she was doing and why every step of the way. Essentially, you want to get a dermaplane a few times a year because it helps your skin get rid of that top layer of dead cells that it’s trying to do by itself. Pores and hair folliciles that get clogged by the dead cells breed bacteria and cause break-outs, so by dermaplaning, you keep your skin clear of break-outs, redness and scarring. Plus, getting rid of the peach fuzz cuts down on the dirt and grime caught by the hairs — and makes your makeup go on like a porcelain doll!
It’s $75 and I honestly felt like it was worth every penny. My skin feels lighter and fresher (I know that sounds weird, but that’s how it feels), I love how my makeup goes on flawlessly now, and I haven’t been getting breakouts and ingrown hairs like I did before! Highly recommended! Check out my before and afters below (click to zoom in and really see the close-up results!)
Cincy Chic is actually having an event at Mitchell’s in December (and I believe that’s when they’ll be having their gift certificate sale going on where you can buy gift certificates at a huge discount!). We’ll have refreshments, shopping, and you’ll get to meet with their experts one-on-one to see what they’d recommend for anything you need advice/help with — skin, nails, hair, anything! 🙂 Hope to see you then!
