Small Business Saturday: Krombholz Jewelers

From now until Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24, I’m going to feature a local business with great gift ideas for everyone on your “nice list.” Today, I’m featuring Krombholz JewelersIt’s where I went to redesign my engagement ring and wedding band, and it’s also where we always host our Cincy Chic “Night in White” event every April.

They really specialize in custom jewelry designs, but they also have some amazing vintage pieces so you can give a one-of-a-kind gift. Also a great gift idea is the “Cincinnati Charms” that Lee Krombholz personally designed. You can wear them as a pendant or as a charm bracelet.

Krombholz Jewelers also has a big Holiday Sale coming up on Dec. 7 and 8, so mark your calendars to stop in and get in on the deals! Also, since they’re a Cincy Chic client, we have a promo going on where if you spend $50 with them you get a Cincy Chic totebag, mug and tumbler ($50 value) for free! Night in White Recap, Krombholz Survey

Me and Lori Tanzer, owner of Sara Benjamin's, at the 2012 Night in White event

This year’s Night in White event was AMAZING! The best one yet! There was even a downpour, but that didn’t dampen our fun! We had a huge crowd inside and out (where we had a big party tent, dance floor, and live band). The fashion show was inside, and it was incredible! I loved all the looks – so full of color!!

Model Sierra Hensley in a Coral One Shoulder dress by Halsto Heritage from Sara Benjamin's, and an emerald and diamond ring from the Krombholz Jewelers brand called Just Like You Designs.

We’ll have the official numbers in shortly, but it’s looking like we raised more than $4,000 for the Eight Days & One Hour Foundation’s Stephen Morsch Nursing Scholarship, which was our beneficiary of the evening! Woohoo!

The Enquirer snapped some awesome pics as they covered the event – click here to check out the album. And attendees created their own Kodak Moments in our photo booth (I loved all the props this year!) – click here to see those! We’ll have photos from our photographer up on our site by Monday, so stay tuned to cincychic.com for those!

We did a sneak peek of the event on Fox19 – featuring all the latest fashion trends for this Spring from Sara Benjamin’s (our fashion show sponsor this year) – so make sure you check out that video below. Also below is the interview I did on WLWT about the foundation, scholarship and why Cincy Chic does this event each year!

Oh, and before I sign off, I do want to mention that Krombholz Jewelers is doing a jewelry survey, and one participant will win an iPad 3! Click here to take the survey! Good luck – hope you win the iPad! If you do, you have to promise to check out Cincy Chic and my blog alllll the time, ok?! 🙂

Night in White April 20

Our third annual “Night in White” event is coming up! I can’t wait! This event always means it’s finally time for Spring, and it benefits a truly awesome cause. (click here to see pics from the first year’s event)

It all got started when my friend Stephen Smith told me about how his family lost their grandson after only eight days and one hour due to a rare condition. But the nurses were so great with their family, that each year they all pitch in to help a nurse through school. They eventually developed the “Eight Days & One Hour Foundation Stephen Morsch Nursing Scholarship” in honor of their grandson. And eventually, Stephen reached out to me to see if they could take the scholarship fund to the next level, and of course, I loved the idea!

I thought it would be neat for everyone to wear white to pay homage to nurses, but have fun with the look by styling it with your favorite jewelry. It’s always a swanky event with an amazing silent auction, a fun photo booth, yummy food and cocktails and even live music (my husband’s band is playing!!). I hope you can make it! Below are all the details!

Krombholz Jewelers to be Featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

You’ve heard “Diamond’s are a girl’s best friend,” right? Well, no one knows that better than Krombholz Jewelers (aka the venue of our Night in White event next Friday!).

Well, diamonds and the Krombholz family will be the new BFFs of one lucky local lady. That’s because Krombholz Jewelers (a 70 year old company!) just snagged a great gig with the ABC network. The producers of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” gave Krombholz the honor of designing an engagement ring for the Dickinson family of South Carolina.

So, not only will the couple, along with their 6 children, get a brand new beautiful home, but India, the wife, will also get a specially crafted diamond ring, featuring the birthstones of each of their 6 children. As if this show wasn’t already a tear jerker! With only a matter of days, the jewelers at Krombholz designed a ring with a retail value of $17,000, but the sentimental value means so much more.

India’s husband, Bill, has served in the US Marine Cops for 17 years and is currently deployed over 7,000 miles away in Afghanistan. Because of his deployment and financial hardships, their home was hard to keep up with and was at the point of being inhabitable, so with the help of Ty and the design team, along with many South Carolina donors and volunteers, a new home was built in a week and the ring was presented to India by Bill, live via video chat, which meant a lot to him because he never had the chance to buy his wife an engagement ring.

Because of the great honor and recognition they have received because of this, Krombholz wants everyone to come celebrate with a viewing party, which will take place at Stir, across from their jewelry store in Olde Montgomery, on May 1 at 7 PM. Even though the public is invited, they are requesting RSVP’s by April 28, so be sure to contact them beforehand so you won’t miss out on the airing of the episode, along with a surprise video chat with India that is being planned for that night!

Most of us are well aware of the heart-wrenching series, so why not come shed a tear or two (or a million) while sharing some drinks with other Cincy Chic’ers? It will be a great time and a memorable moment for all who attend. Hope to see you there! (For more information on the event, check out Krombholz newsletter here.
