Review: More Haley & The Hound

Last month, I told you about my new favorite shirt I got (by Haley & The Hound, which here in Cincinnati you can get at Monkees of Madeira). Well, I guess I’m officially addicted because I got three more Haley & The Hound tops. They are seriously the BEST. Made really well, fit perfectly, trendy but also classic because I can see me wearing these pieces years from now. The fabrics are comfortable, easy to wash and travel well (especially nice when I’ve been living out of luggage the past couple weeks visiting family for the holidays). They’re also the pieces in my closet that I don’t have to think about — just throw them on with some cute accessories and you know they’ll look great. No dryer shrinking (because Lord knows I don’t need the dryer shrinking my clothes after I already “shrunk” them with all those holiday snacks and sweets!) haha!

Below are my new Haley & The Hound tops! Click here to check out their site to see what else they have!

My New Favorite Brand: Haley and the Hound

It’s safe to say I’m obsessed with my new Haley and the Hound shirt {worn it approximately 1,789,276 times in the month I’ve had it}. It’s just so cute and fits so well!  Oh and yes mom, I was outside without a coat on in December! FYI, you can get this top at Monkees of Madeira in case you’re wondering. But be careful, this shirt will now be known as the “gateway shirt” in my book, because I now own four Haley and the Hound tops and I love love love them all. As in, I’ve been doing laundry a lot more often because I can’t wait to wear them again! Haha! I love the fit, colors, fabrics, just everything about them. They are a little on the pricy end (this top is $76) but I’ll be the first to say it’s so worth it based solely on how much I’ve worn them already, let alone how great I feel in them! Ow ow! Over the next week or so I’ll post pics of my other Haley and the Hound tops I got so you can see what I’m talking about!

HUGE Sale at La Silhouette Lingerie Today!

La Silhouette Lingerie is having their biggest event ever today! The owner, Britt (who we wrote about in Cincy Chic here), emailed me to say these are better prices than even the Boutique Sale she participates in… which has historically been when she offers her lowest prices. So, definitely make a trip to Madeira today to check this out! It’s my favorite lingerie shop in Cincinnati — and they have lots more than just lingerie. They have jewelry, scarves, clothes, hosiery, and lots of other fabulousness!

Atelier Celebrates One-Year Anniversary, New Location

In less than two months, Local Entrepreneur, Arlene Aranzamendez, will be celebrating the one year anniversary launch of her first brick and mortar boutique Atelier (currently at 7892 Camargo Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45243). This week, Aranzamendez announced she is in the process of moving the store to a new retail location in Hyde Park Square (2716 Erie Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45208; 2nd floor).

“It’s been a developmental year for our business,” said Aranzamendez. “Our signature handmade jewelry line Konstantin was picked up by several reputable vendors including Antrhopologie.com and the The Autry National Center Museum in Los Angeles – most recently, Nasty Gal has requested to carry our line.”

In addition to Konstantin, Atelier also offers curated custom and designer clothing, as well as other accessories such as handbags, antique jewelry clothing and gifts.

“Hyde Park Square will be a great new home for our boutique – we couldn’t be more excited,” added Aranzamendez.

About Arlene Aranzamendez

Arlene Aranzamendez started her career with Insignia Design Associates in 1995 and worked there for five years before moving on to LPK, an international design agency based in Cincinnati. In 2004, she founded her award-winning web design and branding company, Aranzamendez Design. The company focused on helping small- and medium-sized businesses successfully launch their brands, and gave “facelifts” to 100-plus-year brands. Most recently, she launched ADORN USA, which features custom-made, high-end, but affordable jewelry and bags exhibited in the showroom in Los Angeles. The product line includes artisanal hand-crafted works, such as pieces from six select designers, as well as Aranzamendez’s personal line, Konstantin. She is concentrating on building the ADORN USA brand and has plans to expand to New York and the East Coast Market. Arlene is also working on distribution through regional boutiques, trunk shows, and eventually prime department stores such as Barneys, Henri Bendel, and Nordstrom. She launched her first boutique Atelier in 2014.

Wearable Art Fashion Show Recap

Our fifth annual Wearable Art Fashion Show was a HUGE success! We had more than 225 attendees come out to support our charity — The Arts Alliance (we raised about $1k for them at the event!) — and see Atelier‘s first runway show since opening their shop in Madeira this June!

I wasn’t able to make the show because the doc says Baby Scalia is showing signs of coming any time now… and, as much as I’m sure she’ll love fashion, I didn’t want to have her AT the fashion show!:)

So….luckily, my sister in law Melissa Scalia, who runs The Style Eye site, came through for me in a clutch and filled in for me as emcee and sent me pics to make me feel like I was there!

I loved all the fashions from the boutique and AMAZING jewelry designed by Arlene Aranzamendez, owner of Atelier and a long-time jewelry designer. Such big, beautiful statement pieces …truly “wearable art”!! And the hair/makeup was phenomenal too! Big shout out to Coco Creative Wellness for their awesome work!

Check out some snapshots from the show below! We’ll post the professional ones — and the hilarious photo booth pics!! — to Cincy Chic’s site shortly!

Cincy Chic’s 2014 Wearable Art Fashion Show Designer Selected!

We’re hosting our FIFTH annual Wearable Art Fashion Show on July 25 (one week before my due date!! eee!!!) and I’m SUPER excited to announce that our featured fashion show designer for this event has just been revealed!!! The designer is my friend Arlene Aranzamendez who just opened a new boutique in Madeira, Atelier by Adorn USA. (Click here to read a story we recently wrote on Cincy Chic about Arlene’s jewelry line, Adorn USA.)

I remember meeting Arlene for coffee a few years ago to chat about MARA, a luxury lingerie line she was co-founding with a friend.  At the meeting, she gave me some samples of the lingerie and a necklace that she designed. I love wearing both the lingerie (so comfy AND pretty) and the necklace (I get compliments all the time on it!).

Then, this year, on my birthday (June 10) Arlene opened her new shop in Madeira to showcase all her designs (as well as a few other selected designers), I knew it was the perfect time to feature her in our annual Wearable Art Fashion Show this year!

We also have a great philanthropy for this year’s show: the Arts Alliance. Formerly the Mason-Deerfield Arts Alliance, the Arts Alliance is dedicated to bringing the best possible arts programming to Northeast Cincinnati and the surrounding area. Their focus is centered on developing programming that includes collaborative efforts and partnerships with our schools, local organizations, businesses, and the community.

Check out all the Wearable Art Fashion Show event details below! Hope to see you there!

La Silhouette Moves Into New Location!

My favorite local lingerie shop, La Silhouette Lingerie, has a new and improved home! They’re still in Madeira…. just moved down the street to a more spacious location at 6904 Miami Avenue, Madeira OH. What I love about this shop is that it feels like you’ve just stepped into a quaint and chic Parisian store. The owner, Britt, always has fresh-cut flowers and sweet treats out. And she has some of the most beautiful pieces (I got all my wedding night wear there… ow ow!) and also some of your more affordable everyday pieces. She also carries some fun hosiery, tops, silk scarves, jewelry and even some great swimwear! Check them out at their new location!
