Meet the Expert: Mi Salon Spa’s Samantha

Every day for the next couple of weeks, I’m going to introduce you to a new team member at Mi Salon Spa in Florence Kentucky! Why? Today’s interview is with hair stylist Samantha. She’s so stinkin’ cute and I just LOVED her hair (that’s always the first sign for a good stylist-client match up!). 🙂 She specializes in cuts and colors, and especially loves when clients want to try something new. She’s always reading magazines and watching TV to see the celebs latest looks and going to continuing education courses to learn the latest and greatest looks. Today’s interview is with hair stylist Tammi. She’s been at Mi Salon Spa more than 21 years! Impressive!!! This time of year is her favorite with the change of seasons… she says the leaves shouldn’t be the only ones that get to change to change color, you should too! haha! Today’s interview is with hair stylist Deanna. She’s worked at Mi Salon Spa now for about 11 years, and her specialty as a hair stylist is providing Keratin Treatments. Deanna says Keratin is a hair-straightening product that’s applied to your hair and she uses the heat of a flat iron to seal it in. If you usually style your hair straight, a Keratin hair-straightening treatment could shorten your blow-dry time by 40% to 60%.

Deanna has a few tips for making your Keratin Treatment last longer: Don’t wash your hair for three or four days after getting the treatment, because the solution takes time to work. After you get a Keratin Treatment, and after the don’t-wash waiting period, you should use sodium-sulfate-free shampoo to help maintain the results! They have two types of Keratin Treatments, one that will last up to six months, and an express treatment that will last about two months if you’d just like to dip your toe in the water!

Today’s interview is with hair stylist Josh Wagner. He’s unique because he’s a National Artist for Sebastian Professional, so he gets to travel and train all over to learn the latest and greatest techniques. His favorite thing to do as a stylist is to cut hair… long or short… playing with the shape, texture and customizing the cut for each individual client’s style. Meet the Expert: Mi Salon Spa’s Sherry

Today’s interview is with esthetician Sherry. She’s been at Mi Salon Spa for 10 years now, and specializes in chemical exfoliations and enzyme facials. According to Sherry, enzyme facials are the perfect day time treatments because they take  about 40 minutes to do, and have no downtime. This fab treatment targets many skin conditions including acne, irritating spots, dull and tired skin, greasy areas, blackheads and irritable or dry skin!

Sherry also does eyelash extensions! She says these eyelash extensions are lashes applied with a stronger adhesive than temporary lashes. Generally, a single lash is applied to each natural lash. The bond is designed to last until the lashes naturally fall out. Sherry said a tip to make the extensions last longer is to not used oil-based eye makeup remover and to let your face air dry after washing it or taking a shower because oil and touching the lashes will weaken the bond between the lash and the adhesive! What a great tip!

Today’s interview is with hair stylist Brooklyn. She’s been doing hair at Mi Salon Spa for 10 years now, and she just has the best funky personal style… she looks like an absolute BOMBSHELL rockin’ her purple hair! I love it! She said she loves to have fun with her clients and help them try new things! She also specializes in working with clients to make sure they can recreate the styles and looks she creates for them in the salon at home! That’s so important because how many times have you loved your look when you left the salon but have it never turn out the same when you try to do it at home? Today’s interview is with nail technician Karena. She’s been doing nails at Mi Salon Spa for almost eight years. Her favorite by far is doing gel manicures, she says, because you can combine the colors together to create new colors. A gel manicure is a type of nail treatment in which a nail technician uses gel to bind synthetic fingernails to natural ones and color them. The gel can also be applied over natural nails like regular polish. Today’s interview is with hair stylist Lonnie. He’s been with Mi Salon Spa for more than 24 years, and is now a Manager as well as the Salon Educator. What’s also unique about Lonnie is that he travels to be trained all over the world and brings back that knowledge to all the other stylists at Mi Salon Spa! He specifically teaches cut and color, so those are his specialties. How cool that he brings the best techniques from around the world right to Florence Kentucky!?!
