Retrofittings a HUGE Success!

Me at Retrofittings last night!

Last night was Retrofittings and it was a HUGE success!

Not only did I not fall as I modeled the Krombholz Jewelers live auction piece on-stage (I had nightmares of me tripping and falling off stage! haha!), but they also had a surprise guest Althea Harper from Project Runway (she announced at Retrofittings that she is going to be on the next season of Project Runway All-Stars!).  They also raised more than $20,000 for St. Vincent de Paul in just 30 minutes of the live auction! It was amazing!

I want to thank St. Vincent de Paul, Retrofittings and Lee Krombholz for involving me in this year’s amazing event! It was truly an honor!

Save the Date for Retrofittings!

Make sure you save the date of Oct. 11! It’s going to be an event you don’t want to miss – the 10th anniversary of Retrofittings. (click here to learn more about the concept) It’s one of my favorite events and I’ve been religiously going for the past six years. So, imagine my surprise when I was asked to MODEL the custom design up for auction that Lee Krombholz will be creating for the event! AHHH! I’m so excited! Hope to see you there!

Retrofittings Raises $115,000

I went to Retrofittings last week and had SUCH a good time. In case you don’t know, RetroFittings is an annual fashion show featuring the creations of more than 50 fashion design students from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP). The students use clothing, accessories and other materials from St. Vincent de Paul’s thrift stores and “upcycle” them for fashionable designs, which are featured in a New York-style runway show.

I really enjoyed the event – especially the Michael Jackson “Thriller”-inspired group – and all the creativity these students displayed. Speaking of creativity, the Krombholz design up for auction (which I previewed here) looked super fab and raised several thousand dollars! And I just learned that the event grossed $115,000 for St. Vincent de Paul! Great event, great cause, and a REALLY great amount raised for St. Vincent de Paul’s seven local thrift stores!

Check out the video recap I made below! Enjoy!
