On Nov 9, the Ladies of Kindervelt #50 hosted an exclusive fashion show featuring the Best of Saks Fifth Avenue’s top American and European fashion designers’ 2016 Winter/Spring Collections. Even though this production rivaled its New York Fashion Week counterparts, the Ladies of Kindervelt 50 hosted more than just a fashion show, it was a celebration to raise much needed funds to support the breakthrough care provided through the Cincinnati Children’s Heart Institute Neurodevelopmental Educational Clinic. Chrissie Blatt Creative and Saks Fifth Avenue transformed Kenwood Country Club into a high-end fashion house. A crowd of 285 Kindervelt supporters slipped into their favorite pair of stilettos while sipping champagne and shopping Saks Pop-Up-Shop. Guests were whisked into the ballroom by Jeff Thomas of Q102’s Morning Show, as he introduced the Best of Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show. After the show, guests were treated to “shop the show” backstage, bid on silent auction items and purchase exquisite jewelry at the Kendra Scott Jewelry Pull. This was one of Kindervelt #50 most successful fashion show, raising over $43,000! Kindervelt #50 Fashion Show was presented by Mercedes Benz of Cincinnati. Event co-chairs were Jennifer Byer, Marissa Miller + Jennifer Stuhlreyer. Check out some pics from the show below! Congrats to the ladies at Kindervelt #50 for the awesome event and all the amazing work that fundraising will support!

Saks has two exciting initiatives coming up for Spring. The first program is a charity initiative called “Send Your Love to a Cause” which will run from February 1 – 28 and will give 5% of sales from all Saks card transactions for the month to one of three local charities: The American Red Cross, The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, or Kenzie’s Closet. Shoppers register their charity at point of sales and their purchases will be tracked for the month so 5% will benefit their organization of choice. The Red Cross will receive up to $100,000 nationally while the Cincinnati Zoo and Kenzie’s Closet will receive up to $5,000 each.
So, Saks downtown is hosting an in-store event to kick off the program on Thursday, February 7 from 6 – 8pm. The charities’ boards and supporters will be in attendance along with Saks shoppers, media, and friends. Guests will enjoy a Champagne reception while they shop for a cause. Get more info about the event below!

One of the first shows I ever covered as a blogger was a Lafayette 148 New York show. Through the years of covering this line, I’ve learned more and more about Edward Wilkerson… the dashing man behind these designs! 🙂 He’s a true talent who draws inspiration from his world wide travels. For example, two years ago, I wrote about his collection inspired by a trip to Rome and the Sistine Chapel.
Traveling and fashion are two of my great loves, so I’ve been particularly intrigued with how Edward translates his world travels into women’s wardrobes. He recently visited Saks Cincinnati for one of the biggest in-house fashion shows I’ve attended there (standing room only!). I squeezed my way into a little corner up front. I’m so glad I did, because this was by far my favorite Lafayette 148 collection I’ve seen thus far!
The line is usually a little “mature” for my taste (in price and in style). But this collection was the perfect blend of sexy, chic, sophistication – for any age. I got to talk with Edward after the show about the inspiration behind this collection (eee! so exciting!). Since each collection is usually inspired by one of his trips, my first question was asking which location inspired this one. He said he traveled a lot this year, and instead of one city becoming his muse, he was instead inspired by the architecture in all the cities he visited. The textures of various materials and the strength of structures that’ve endured hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
I could definitely see the structure and strength come across in his bold statement blazers, and the mixture of textures with materials like tweed and leather. Click here to see the entire collection, and check out montage video of pics I snapped at the event!
I love Lafayette 148 New York. I’ve seen and blogged about several of the line’s fashion shows in the past… and soon I’ll get the pleasure of meeting the man behind Lafayette’s fab fashions! And you can too!
On August 14th, NYC-based brand Lafayette 148 New York will be hosting a fashion presentation at Saks Fifth Avenue, where designer Edward Wilkerson will be styling attendees in his favorite looks. Here are the details of the event:
Where: Saks Fifth Avenue, 101 West Fifth Street, Cincinnati, OH
When: Tuesday, August 14th
How exciting! See you there!
Exciting news, my shoe-savvy fashionista friends. Saks Fifth Ave downtown just remodeled their shoe salon, and they’re having a shin-dig to celebrate its unveiling in style. Oh, and what’s better than shoe shopping in a pretty new shoe salon? Having a portion of proceeds go to a great cause! 10% of sales from the event will be going to go Vibrant – a non-profit dedicated to making Cincinnati a healthier, more vibrant place to live! Click here to read the story Cincy Chic did about the organization and its founder!
Check out the invite below… hope to see you and your chic shoes there!
