Meet the Expert: Mi Salon Spa’s Jaden

Every day for the next couple of weeks, I’m going to introduce you to a new team member at Mi Salon Spa in Florence Kentucky! Why? Well, a few months ago, we held our “School’s Back, Mom Relax” event there and I learned so many fun tips and tricks from  the experts I met that night that I decided to go back and interview them, see what inspires them, what they specialize in, and learn some helpful tips along the way! You can click here to follow along with all the posts in this series, and check back often for these daily posts so you can meet the whole team!!

Today’s interview is with nail technician Jaden. She’s been at Mi Salon Spa for eight years and does all types of nail services. Her favorite by far is doing shellac, she says, because it lasts so long, and it’s so low-maintenance for the client. It’s great for summer vacations because the sand won’t wear away your polish, and great for winter because you can slip your boots right back on after the service — no dry time! Shellac manicures last two weeks and pedicures last about six weeks!

Also, a new big trend that Jaden is seeing (and loving!) is nail art. So, if you see a design or technique on Pinterest or even a pattern you’d like to see translated to your nails, just give Jaden a call and she can make it happen! To learn more about Jaden and/or Mi Salon Spa, or to book an appointment, check out www.misalonspa.com or call 859.647.2566. Check out my interview with Jaden below!

Review: Shellac at Healthy Nails by Jasna

photo 1On Cincy Chic’s Facebook page, we do these things called “Shameless Plug Sundays” where people can give their business (or favorite business) a shout out on our page to get it some publicity. We actually get a lot of our story ideas from this because we learn about so many great businesses that wouldn’t have been on our radar otherwise!

So, after we saw a plug for a new nail salon called “Healthy Nails by Jasna,” we decided to do a story about it (click here to read it!). I ended up liking their facebook page and friending the owner on Facebook because she’s come to several Cincy Chic events. The owner (you guessed it, her name is Jasna!) came to our most recent event, the Wearable Art Fashion Show and she said I should come in and try out her services so I did!

It was honestly one of the best shellac manicures and pedicures I’ve ever had. It did take a little over three hours for both the mani and pedi (about a half-hour longer than it’s taken elsewhere), but she really perfected every detail. I got a French on my toes and a fun bright color (called “Lobster Roll”) on my hands. The lines on the French are absolutely PERFECT and the color on my hands is even and nothing has chipped after almost a week (I’ve had shallac start chipping after just a few days).

Jasna is SUPER sweet too. I loved talking with her about how she was a Russian refugee who moved to Germany and eventually America… she’s now an American citizen who just started her own business, and shares the space with her fiancee and mother-in-law who are also in the health/wellness/beautification industries!

Healthy Nails by Jasna is located inside the Debrah Englert Salon at 4752 Orchard Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236 right across the street from Trio.
