I’m in love with the trends right now of retro styles, and nautical stripes. I found an online boutique called “Figleaves” with a new swimwear collection that highlights both trends in a new “Nautical” collection, featuring halterneck ties and high-rise briefs that add a retro twist.
You can mix and match the tops and the bottoms, so you can get a bigger size on the top/bottom, pick the perfect styles for you, or even mix prints if you’re adventurous. I was nervous about ordering a suit online because I wasn’t sure if it would fit, but their online sizing chart is right on, and my suit fit like it was custom made for me! I think it’s actually my best-fitting suit that I’ve ever owned!
It’s not just swimwear either. They have clothing, nightwear, lingerie, baby, mens, etc. — all with really great prices. Also, as I’m writing this, I noticed that the suits are even less expensive than when I ordered them a few weeks ago! So, now is a great time to buy!

Let me preface this post by saying: I’m definitely NOT a swimsuit model but I took a deep breath… got in a suit… in front of a camera… just for you. 🙂
Why, you ask? Well, it all started with Amy Tobin asking me to help her do a “How to be Cool at the Pool” segment for her radio show and blog. So, I did my homework and got in a few samples from various suit companies to try them out for myself before I could truly recommend them.
Amy and I ended up putting together a great segment (click here for all the tips and trends!), but there was one suit in particular that I ended up LOVING and keeping. It’s this bronze bandeau suit by Guira. It has a little padding, which is nice regardless of your cup size. I like the extra padding because it offers a little lift and helps hide when I’m cold, if ya know what I mean. 🙂 The straps are convertible, which is nice so you can wear them however you want, or not at all to avoid the tan lines! Also, the bottom gives great coverage. I have a little extra junk in the trunk and suits don’t usually do a good job of staying put and keeping everything in — this suit does a great job of both!
I wanted to feature this suit (and the great matching cover-up) because it’s a rare occasion to find a swimsuit that fits well and actually makes you feel MORE confident in it!

Hello from the Bahamas! It’s my big 3-0 birthday today and my hubby whisked me away to Freeport Bahamas for a few days to celebrate! It’s BEAUTIFUL here! We just landed, and are about to head to the pool! I can’t wait to wear my new Voda Swim bandeau bikini I got after we ran this story about the designer in Cincy Chic! Maybe after a glass of wine I’ll take a pic and post it for you! haha! (you need a little liquid courage to post pics in bikinis… but I’ll do it in the name of fashion!) 🙂
I just wanted to check in, say hello and post the first blog of my thirties! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
