Wearable Art Fashion Show Recap

Our fifth annual Wearable Art Fashion Show was a HUGE success! We had more than 225 attendees come out to support our charity — The Arts Alliance (we raised about $1k for them at the event!) — and see Atelier‘s first runway show since opening their shop in Madeira this June!

I wasn’t able to make the show because the doc says Baby Scalia is showing signs of coming any time now… and, as much as I’m sure she’ll love fashion, I didn’t want to have her AT the fashion show!:)

So….luckily, my sister in law Melissa Scalia, who runs The Style Eye site, came through for me in a clutch and filled in for me as emcee and sent me pics to make me feel like I was there!

I loved all the fashions from the boutique and AMAZING jewelry designed by Arlene Aranzamendez, owner of Atelier and a long-time jewelry designer. Such big, beautiful statement pieces …truly “wearable art”!! And the hair/makeup was phenomenal too! Big shout out to Coco Creative Wellness for their awesome work!

Check out some snapshots from the show below! We’ll post the professional ones — and the hilarious photo booth pics!! — to Cincy Chic’s site shortly!

Cincy Chic’s 2014 Wearable Art Fashion Show Designer Selected!

We’re hosting our FIFTH annual Wearable Art Fashion Show on July 25 (one week before my due date!! eee!!!) and I’m SUPER excited to announce that our featured fashion show designer for this event has just been revealed!!! The designer is my friend Arlene Aranzamendez who just opened a new boutique in Madeira, Atelier by Adorn USA. (Click here to read a story we recently wrote on Cincy Chic about Arlene’s jewelry line, Adorn USA.)

I remember meeting Arlene for coffee a few years ago to chat about MARA, a luxury lingerie line she was co-founding with a friend.  At the meeting, she gave me some samples of the lingerie and a necklace that she designed. I love wearing both the lingerie (so comfy AND pretty) and the necklace (I get compliments all the time on it!).

Then, this year, on my birthday (June 10) Arlene opened her new shop in Madeira to showcase all her designs (as well as a few other selected designers), I knew it was the perfect time to feature her in our annual Wearable Art Fashion Show this year!

We also have a great philanthropy for this year’s show: the Arts Alliance. Formerly the Mason-Deerfield Arts Alliance, the Arts Alliance is dedicated to bringing the best possible arts programming to Northeast Cincinnati and the surrounding area. Their focus is centered on developing programming that includes collaborative efforts and partnerships with our schools, local organizations, businesses, and the community.

Check out all the Wearable Art Fashion Show event details below! Hope to see you there!

We recently held our Wearable Art Fashion Show and Lisa Robin Jewelry was the featured fashion show sponsor.

Not only does Lisa Adkinson design beautiful baubles, but she also writes a fab blog! Click here to check it out — a few of her recent posts actually feature a few looks from our recent Wearable Art Fashion Show!

Her pieces are designed with versatility in mind… see what I mean by reading this story (and watching the embedded webcast I did with her!) about Lisa Robin’s jewelry, the design concept and inspirations, and all the different ways you can wear her pieces!

Wearable Art Fashion Show Featured Artist of the Day: Mitchell’s Salon

The Wearable Art Fashion Show is tonight! I’m so excited! The event will take place at Lunar Lounge starting at 7pm will all the proceeds benefiting Kenzie’s CLOSET. Online ticket sales have ended, but walk-ins are welcome! It’s $10 at the door (100% donated to Kenzie’s) or bring a dress (cocktail dress, bridesmaid dress, etc) to donate as your ticket in. For the past week, we have featured all the wearable art artists and vendors and today’s is: Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa.

They are the official Salon and Spa for Cincy Chic, so they do all the hair/makeup for all our fashion shows. Tonight’s fabulous fashion show included! Amy Kirchen, the clothing designer who will be featured tonight, really targets the posh professional, which is 100% me, so I’m excited to see all the looks they give the girls! (They will also have some great coupons in all the swag bags!)

You’ll have to come to the show tonight to see Mitchell’s amazing hair/makeup work on the models, but I will share with you something I think is really cool that they do: “Find out Fridays” on their facebook page. Each Friday, they share helpful tips via a short, informational video. Embedded in this blog is today’s Find out Friday! It’s about  2nd Day Styling Tips for Short Hair – Wash hair night before, get up and use Mindy’s 5 Minute Regimen to be styled perfectly for the day.

I really like the videos, so I think I’ll make a habit of reposting them here on my blog! Enjoy!

Our Wearable Art fashion show is almost here – I can count the days left on one hand now! For more information about this event or to buy tickets, click here! Leading up to the event, I’ll be featuring one vendor a day from the event so you can learn more about what’s in store for you at this fab fashion show!

Today’s featured artist of the day for the Wearable Art Fashion Show is Lyn Bucalo, owner of Serket Jewelry. If you have attended a Cincy Chic event lately then you have already seen her work worn by the models. This will be no exception for Friday’s event; the models will be accessorized by her one of a kind jewelry!

Lyn uses top designers like Channel, Oscar de la Renta and Dannijo as inspiration to keep pushing herself to come up with one of kind pieces, keeping up with the latest trends. At the Wearable Art Fashion Show, Lyn says attendees can expect, “Layers of necklaces and bracelets, as well as the hot look of the season feathers! Some of the necklaces are even bigger and junkier than before with gobs of beads and chains draping from your neck”.  After her fashion show at the Red, Pink and Blue event, we are all excited to see her new styles.

Lyn’s favorite pieces and best sellers are her necklaces, when designing them she has more options in materials to explore new creations. Some of the materials she uses to create her jewelry include: vintage jewelry, scarp booking materials, craft supplies, shells, broken jewelry, flip flop jewels, hat pins and charms, really the sky is the limit. The Serket Jewelry Facebook page is filled with pictures of her innovative jewelry and most recent pieces.

Lyn Bucalo will be at the Wearable Art Fashion show with her jewelry. Please take a look at the Serket Jewelry website. They are also for sale in three local Cincinnati boutiques: 4U Fashion Boutique (downtown), Knickers of Hyde Park and The Little Red Gift Shop (Montgomery). Their style keeps changing so keep checking back to their website to see the most recent Serket Jewelry pieces!

The Wearable Art Fashion show is coming up soon, check out the Cincy Chic website to learn more about the event and to get your tickets.

Wearable Art Fashion Show Artist of the Day: Robin Ewers, Audreyesque

Our Wearable Art fashion show is less than one week away! For more information about this event or to buy tickets, click here! Leading up to the event, I’ll be featuring one vendor a day from the event so you can learn more about what’s in store for you at this fab fashion show!

The Wearable Art Fashion Show artist today is Robin Ewers, owner of Audreyesque. She takes every woman’s favorite accessory, shoes and turns them into a work of art. She was recently featured in Cincy Chic, helping convince every woman it is necessary to add a one of a kind piece by her to their shoe collection!

She will be bringing four pairs of shoes for the models to wear the night of the Wearable Art Fashion Show, all specifically hand painted for the event. However, she is keeping them a surprise until that night!  The photos shown are of the classic blank and white movie icons: Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

Robin is extremely excited to be apart of the Wearable Art Fashion Show this Friday, July 22 at Lunar Lounge with all the proceeds benefiting Kenzie’s CLOSET. She says, “I love Cincinnati, and to be a part of making our city more aware of the talent that is hidden here was a no brainer for me”.

At the Wearable Art Fashion Show Robin will be taking orders for both her shoes and necklaces from her handmade Audreyesque Eyeconic necklaces line. The night of the event she will be giving 25% off to all shoe orders taken at the event and 20% off all necklaces she sells at the show. Please take a look at her website to help get your orders ready: www.rewers.org !

Wearable Art Fashion Show Featured Artist: HeartStrings

Heartstrings by Noelle necklace

Our Wearable Art Fashion Show is one week away! I can’t wait! (for more information about this event or to buy tickets, click here!) Leading up to the event, I’ll be featuring one vendor a day from the event so you can learn more about what’s in store for you at this fab fashion show!

Today’s Wearable Art Fashion Show featured artist is Noelle Schwartz owner of HeartStrings. I first told you about her here when I made a necklace with Noelle for my mom for Mother’s Day. Noelle’s jewelry is all customized hand stamped jewelry and personalized gifts. As a mother of three boys, she uses her business as a creative outlet and what every woman needs a little girl time. Using her family as inspiration, she wants to give other people a way to showcase what is important in their lives.

The picture shown is her favorite piece and bestseller. It is three discs with kids names on them paired with a little heart charm, her modern twist on “mommy jewelry.”

Even though names seem to be the most popular she has put race times, weight loss goals, graduation/wedding dates and favorite mottos on them for recent customers. Because Noelle uses small tools to individually stamp letters and symbols onto various pieces of metal, customers can get creative on personalizing their jewelry. Check out her site – www.heartstringsbynoelle.com – to view all the different styles, metals, charms and to get your creative juices flowing to come up with your very own “works of heart,” as Noelle would say!

Noelle will have a table at Cincy Chic’s Wearable Art Fashion Show on Friday, July 22 at Lunar Lounge with all the proceeds benefiting Kenzie’s CLOSET. Noelle will be taking orders at the event and even making some pieces onsite!

Wearable Art Fashion Show Featured Artist of the Day: Cheers to Art!

Cheers to Art

This week, I had the opportunity to visit the Cheers to Art studio and sit down with owners Michael and Jill Carroll, who are our first featured artists of the week for our Wearable Art Fashion Show (for more information about this event or to buy tickets, click here!) I’ll be featuring one vendor a day from the event so you can learn more about who will be there and get excited about the event!

Walking into the Cheers to Art studio, located in Madeira, I was greeted by both Michael and Jill Carroll sitting at their painting easels with their aprons on and paint brushes in hand. Their welcoming spirit and the overall atmosphere instantly made me want to join in. Once I saw all the finished paintings hanging on the wall behind them, I knew this place was special.

These paintings, along with the wall of windows on the opposing side, create an open and inviting environment for both amateur and experienced artists to come and paint with them. After a few minutes of talking to Jill, I instantly got the vibe that she could turn any night out in their studio into a party instead of a typical painting lesson. Jill emphasized to me that about 90% of people who come to Cheers to Art are not artists, yet leave with a work of art (if you don’t believe me look at their Facebook page filled with pictures to prove it)!

At the Cheers to Art studio it’s all about getting together with your family and friends to have a good time together while being creative and sipping on your favorite glass of wine or bottle of beer- since Cheers to Art does have a wine and beer license.

Cheers to Art offers open painting, scheduled classes, ladies night and fundraisers each month. For a full list of these events please visit their calendar, which will also show what piece of art each class will be painting that session (private events do get to select the painting).

To register, and for more information, please visit: CheersToArt.com or call (513) 271-2793. Both Michael and Jill will have a table at the Wearable Art Fashion Show on Friday, July 22 at Lunar Lounge with all proceeds benefiting Kenzie’s CLOSET.  They will be bringing sample paintings, pictures of their events and have a drawing for a free session!
